Margaret Josephs and Dolores Catania: Who’s Telling the Truth?

When it comes to any Real Housewives franchise, lying has pretty much become a sport. But on Real Housewives of New Jersey, lying is almost a necessity. It’s a jungle out there in the Garden State, and it’s all about survival. For years, viewers have watched Teresa Giudice become quite skilled in the art of telling fiction with her mouth. However, the Season 14 finale showed Dolores Catania and Margaret Josephs butting heads over a story they both remember differently.

Since day one, Dolores and Margaret have been nothing but upfront about who they are. I would argue that both women are two of the most genuine housewives out there, to begin with. As a fan, I would say I would feel comfortable trusting both women with secrets. I have watched Dolores have always made it a point to come across as a woman of her word, even if she sat on the fence every so often. The Macbeth Collection owner has always lived by the motto, “Say what you mean and mean what you say.” So the question is, who is telling the truth?

Did Margaret Josephs tell Dolores Catania about the pre-reunion “summit?”

After the burn sesh at Teresa’s home, Dolo decided to pop by Margaret’s eccentric home. But no one saw the best fight of the season occurring between these two titans. As the Paterson native joked about the “sumit” at the Giudices, Marge clapped back, “There wasn’t a summit. That’s called doing a reunion review.” Dolores tried to play it off, adding, “Well, thanks for not inviting me to that one.” But there was clearly a lack of communication because Marge insisted she did, telling her friend, “I did. I told you to come” in passing.

Now, we will never know who was right in this situation, but because of the bulging of their veins, both women believe they are telling the truth. However, I believe Marge. It makes sense that the invite was in passing because, let’s be honest, Dolores wouldn’t have attended anyway out of her allegiance to Tre. I genuinely believe Dolores heard the words but didn’t register it as an invitation.

Did Dolores Catania’s emotion show she was telling the truth about Margaret Josephs lying?

Everyone is capable of yelling at the top of their lungs to get their point across. But it doesn’t prove whether they are right or wrong. Dolores usually only blows up when she’s passionate about something being right, like when she destroyed Danielle Staub for saying she was trashing Teresa (“Welcome back, scumbag!”). But to me, Dolo’s blow-up just showed how tired she was of the toxic friend group. She has tried for months to mend the fracture, and it was all for nothing.

Both Margaret Josephs and Dolores Catania could be telling the truth

It could be that both Margaret and Dolores are telling their version of the truth. It is plausible that Marge did tell Dolores about the meeting “in passing,” and Dolores doesn’t remember the events as Marge recalls them. But Dolores’ anger still doesn’t sit right with me. The mother of two told Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live that she became irate because “For me, it’s like my integrity there, you know? Because she was saying something that didn’t happen, and it was blatantly making me so furious.”

Dolores and her belief in the truth has never been questioned until now. She shared with Andy, “It wasn’t so much about, ‘Oh, it makes me look like a bad friend. But, it just wasn’t true.” Both are heavy hitters who take an immense amount of pride in their character. I dare say I find it hard to decide between the two. I think it could be that both Dolores and Marge are telling the truth about what happened.

But having to navigate the muddy waters of Bergen County hasn’t been easy and clearly has taken a toll on the two. Sadly, I don’t think we will be getting either woman’s side since there will not be a traditional reunion. But I would still bet that neither of these women lied on purpose. Both are just passionate.
