Lifetime just aired their highly-anticipated Dance Moms reunion, but there was a face noticeably missing from the lineup: Nia Sioux. A handful of the dancers came together to commiserate over their bizarre experience of growing up in competitive dance while also watching their moms fight with Abby Lee Miller for reality TV cameras. But, where was Nia?
Some fans speculated that perhaps she didn’t want to relive the traumatic experience of Dance Moms. Others thought that perhaps something shady happened behind the scenes. However, Nia just opened up about the decision to skip the reunion, and her reasoning is 100% valid.
Nia explained her absence on TikTok
Nia, who is now 22, went to TikTok to address the questions about her absence from the show. A bunch of her former castmates, like JoJo Siwa and Chloe Lukasiak, all sat down to reflect on the Lifetime series. Nia said she didn’t want to, plain and simple.
“The reason is quite simple,” Nia explained. “I just didn’t want to do it. Some people think it was because I had sorority stuff. Nope, I didn’t. Some people think it’s because I’m in school. I am in school, but it wouldn’t have been an issue.”
“I just didn’t want to do it,” Nia reiterated. “That’s a good enough answer, and that’s a good enough reason.”
Of course, Nia wasn’t the only person who chose to skip the reunion. Maddie Ziegler and Mackenzie Ziegler were also noticeably absent. Regardless, there don’t seem to be any hard feelings. The girls who participated in the reunion admitted it was a tough decision. Meanwhile, Nia had nothing but positive things to say about her old teammates.
“I love the girls, and I’m really happy for them,” Nia explained. “I’m really happy that they get to share how they felt and their experiences. That’s just something that I decided I didn’t want to do.”
