As Season 11 of Vanderpump Rules plays out on our screen, many have been perplexed over the disparity between the support Lala Kent and Scheana Shay lent Ariana Madix in the aftermath of Scandoval versus the current beefs between Ariana and Lala/Scheana playing out publicly since filming wrapped.
Lala’s pretty much been going scorched-Earth. She’s been fast and loose with talking trash about Ariana and even unfollowed her and Katie Maloney on Instagram.
In a recent interview, Scheana explained that she and Ariana also aren’t in the best place right now, and we’ll have a better understanding of what caused their rift once the reunion airs.
Scheana and Ariana aren’t as close as they were a year ago
Throughout VPR Season 11, we’ve seen Scheana grapple with her disappointment over Ariana getting a Dancing With The Stars spot instead of her. She also had a tough time reconciling her friendship with Sandoval after what he did to Ariana. Still, she was touting herself as strictly on #TeamAriana back then. But, it looks like things are more complicated now.
Scheana recently spoke to Page Six about her current relationship with Ariana, revealing, “Things definitely aren’t where they were a year ago.”
Though she just attended Ariana’s final Broadway performance as Roxie Hart in Chicago last week, it seems like there might’ve been a little chill in the air after the curtain dropped.
Scheana explained, “We didn’t really [talk] — I mean, I went with Brock [Davies], we said hi after. She was absolutely incredible, but she’s a very busy person right now, as am I.”
Scheana’s hopeful she and Ariana “can reconnect,” but the VPR reunion didn’t help matters
Even if things are a bit strained between her and Ariana right now, Scheana’s confident that they can mend their friendship. However, it seems like some things bubbled over at the reunion taping, and it might be time for a cooling-off period.
Scheana shared, “I think it’s just tough, the position we’re all in and the reunion didn’t necessarily help bring us closer together. I can say that.”
Ariana has stayed relatively quiet about everything unraveling off-screen. She’s probably too booked and busy with her fabulous new home, DSW collab, and Love Island USA hosting gig to add more Glad brand trash bags to this SUR back alley dumpster fire.
