While the separation between Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright might not have raised eyebrows, the timing sure did. The former Vanderpump Rules stars, who left the show in 2020, found themselves brought back to life thanks to Scandoval.
With all the media attention surrounding VPR, Jax and Brittany were back in Bravo’s favor. In January, a teaser was released for a new series called The Valley. The series features Jax, Brittany, Pump Rules alum Kristen Doute, and a few other cast members new to reality TV.
So with the show set to debut in less than two weeks, Brittany’s recent announcement that she has separated from Jax seemed like an obvious PR ploy. Which has worked, because rumors of what caused the rift are flying. Jax recently took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to address speculation that his new bar played a role.
Jax does damage control on social media
On a thread discussing the pause in Jax and Brittany’s relationship, one user wrote, “Lol well Jax owning a bar is NOT Conducive to a happy family. Take it from me, I know.”
Jax, who must be monitoring social media very closely, almost immediately jumped in. “Actually it’s one of the things that’s actually working for the both of us and is helping us we love our bar has zero to do with that or drinking it’s communication i don’t know one married couple that hasn’t gone through what we are going through,” he insisted.
Promoting your new show and your bar all in one! Jax is really hustling here.
On the February 29 episode of their podcast, Brittany told listeners, “Jax and I are taking time apart, and I made the decision to move into another home to take some space for the sake of my mental health. I won’t get into too many details right now, because this is still very hard to talk about and I’m taking things one day at a time. I don’t know what the future holds, but right now my focus is on being the best mom to Cruz.”
Brittany’s mom saw this coming
Gossip about Jax’s bar likely stems from comments made by Brittany’s own mother, Sherri Cartwright. She previously stated on their podcast that Jax “told me in the years past that opening a bar, get a divorce, so I was not happy.”
As for Brittany, she seemed to have high hopes about Jax’s bar. She told the outlet Heavy, “You can have a girls night and go there and you can still have a good time. Like it’s not just sports bar, sports bar, sports bar. It’s very inviting to men and women. And I love that about the bar. I wanted to make sure that the girls felt like ‘Oh yeah, this is a sports bar. But this is a sports bar that I want to be at.'”
The Valley premieres March 19 at 9/8c on Bravo.
