Whatever happened to Scheana Shay’s ex-husband Mike Shay?
In 2014, viewers of Vanderpump Rules watched as Scheana married her high school sweetheart. Their engagement took place at Lisa Vanderpump’s lavish Villa Rosa estate. Scheana even got a tattoo that said, “It’s all happening!”
The marriage ended less than three years later when she discovered that her husband had a serious drug problem. But where is Mike today?
Scheana gives an update on her ex-husband
“There were a lot of things from the beginning of our marriage that kind of tainted the whole relationship,” Scheana said in 2017. “Three months in, I found out he had a pill problem. Right before our one-year anniversary, I saw some inappropriate text messages. Then, fast forward to our second anniversary, and I’m just trying to pretend like everything’s fine because, in my mind, we’re married — for better or for worse.”
Mike is actually the only one of Scheana’s exes that she still keeps in touch with. During a 2020 appearance on Watch What Happens Live, she gave host Andy Cohen a quick update on the music producer.
“He is [doing OK],” she said. “I mean, I think he’s still kind of finding himself, but he’s happy, and he’s doing well.”
“I haven’t talked to him much,” she added. “We spoke a bit last year — his mom sadly passed away, and I just was checking in on him a lot. I usually text him every year on his birthday.”
Even though Scheana likes to check in with her ex a couple of times a year, he rarely initiates contact with her.
“I think when I got into my relationship with Brock and then he saw, you know, I now have a child, he’s respected that boundary,” she confessed. “And he doesn’t really reach out, but I still do check in and just make sure he’s doing OK. I mean, he’s someone I’ve known since I was 15.”
Even though he’s a professional musician, Mike has kept a low profile since his breakup with the Good As Gold singer. His Instagram account @Mikeshaymusic is private, and he hasn’t updated his official SoundCloud page in four years.
Wherever he is, I hope Mike’s doing well.
