Lisa Barlow Tries To Justify Wearing Real Fur: ‘Better for the Environment’

Lisa Barlow has drawn criticism from internet users over her attempts to defend her fur jacket. The debate over the ethics behind fur clothing is a divisive one. But the facts don’t lie.

Not only are hordes of animals killed each year just for their fur, but the breeding and feeding practices to make these animals into the best fur clothing possible are deplorable.

Now, The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City’s own has found herself as another object of ridicule in the ongoing debate. She wouldn’t be the first Housewife to draw criticism for wearing fur, but there’s an added layer of attempted defense that has fans riled up.

Lisa claims she read “studies” on fur clothing

On February 5, Twitter user @esteco2 tweeted out a video of Lisa advertising a fur brand, wearing a fur coat herself. “My jacket is from Sitka Fur. I love wearing real fur because I feel like it’s better for the environment.” Huh? “There’s like, studies on it, so I’ve been reading up on it.” Could we perhaps get a source for that claim? A citation of any kind?

As one might’ve expected, the video of Lisa was met with unabashed backlash. As one reply put it, “Better for the environment?? Who is gonna tell her…” Another wrote, “Fur looks better on the animal.” The original poster also chimed in again, writing, “Real fur is not better for any environment.”

As shown in the replies, Lisa’s choice to wear fur was not the problem all on its own. Rather, Lisa’s hypocrisy was what sparked even harsher criticism. Just as OP added, “It’s like. Just say you like fur and stop trying to justify.” Amid the firestorm against the RHOSLC star, one fan joked, “I think it’s upside down,” referring to Denise Richards.
