Former executive producer Carlos King recently revealed why he chose to leave The Real Housewives of Atlanta after producing explosive seasons in the past.
“Simply put,” he told Tamra Judge, Cynthia Bailey, Teddi Mellencamp, and Emily Simpson while taping a recent episode of Two Ts In a Pod, “I was there for, like, eight [or] nine years. I felt like I had done everything I could on that show, and Cynthia can attest to that.”
The former Bravo exec produced four seasons of RHOA (Seasons 6, 7, 8, and 9), as well as spinoffs Don’t Be Tardy for the Wedding, Kandi’s Wedding, and I Dream of NeNe. Eventually, Carlos branched off to “expand” and “start my own production company.” He has since created shows for BET, OWN, and WETV.
What’s next with RHOA Season 16?
Since Carlos’ departure following the explosive Season 9 reunion, where Phaedra Parks was outed for allegedly lying about her co-star Kandi Burruss, watchers have asked for Carlos, aka the “King” of reality TV, to return. However, with the creation and development of his many other projects, a Housewives return doesn’t seem likely anytime soon.
Regarding the upcoming season of RHOA, rumors have been circulating for some time that the network would be doing a complete revamp of the cast ahead of its 16th season.
One Housewife we know for sure won’t be returning is the longest-running cast member in franchise history, Kandi. At the 66th Annual Grammy Awards, she announced that her time on the network had come to an end, adding she was looking forward to working on other projects.
Another Real Housewives vet, Kenya Moore, teased that a cast announcement should be coming very soon; however, she would expect some type of shake-up, including a mix of fresh and returning faces.
