90 Day Fiancé began as a wholesome show chronicling international couples’ love stories. Then it turned into one of the most dramatic reality shows on TV. Not only do the couples have to focus on making love work from long distances, they also have to grapple with cultural differences. Frequently, these differences include pressure from their families.
Often, the families have varying expectations for their offspring’s relationship and partner because of differing cultural norms. The latter has led to some of the biggest feuds in 90 Day Fiancé history. Grab your popcorn and let’s take a trip down 90 Day Feud-ance Memory Lane!
Jenny Slatten vs Kimberly Rochelle
You might think that 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way co-stars Kimberly Rochelle and Jenny Slatten would get along since they both moved to India for their partner without knowing anyone else. It turns out Jenny had been watching Kimberly’s journey in India and felt that Kimberly didn’t appreciate the country or the opportunities she had been given. On the Tell-All for TOW season 5, Jenny finally had a chance to tell Kimberly that she thinks she’s entitled.
Kimberly didn’t appreciate this and called Jenny a c***, which nobody expected. Jenny retorted that Kimberly should meet up with her, in what sounded like a threat of a physical altercation. Fans weren’t shocked when Kimberly said “I’ll give you my address.” This wouldn’t be the first instance of physical violence and similar threats in the series.
Kalani Faagata and Asuelu Pulaa vs. Asuelu’s Mother and Sister
In 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? Season 5, Kalani Faagata and Asuelu Pulaa had an infamous struggle with Asuelu’s mom and sister over money. Asuelu’s family alleged that back home in Samoa, it was normal for the offspring to send money to their family once they got married. Kalani resisted, as she had two children to raise with Asuelu. This prompted Asuelu’s sister to try to physically fight Kalani, to which Kalani famously said “If your sister would have touched my f****ing body, I would have dropped her.”
Andrei Castravet vs. The Potthast Family
From the moment Elizabeth Potthast Castravet‘s family met her partner Andrei Castravet, they famously did not get along. Libby’s family thought Andrei was controlling, and Andrei seemed to think Libby’s dad should pay for everything (like a fancy wedding in Andrei’s home country of Moldova) despite Andrei himself not working. Libby’s dad tried to give Andrei a job at his construction company, with disastrous results.
The Potthast family grew even more suspicious of Andrei when they visited Moldova. Andrei had met Libby in Dublin, and the family found out he left Moldova because of complications with his job in security. This did not make things any better. The feud came to a head with physical fights between Andrei and the family. Talk about drama!
The Everett Family vs. The Jimeno Family
Of course, we would be remiss to write an article about 90 Day Fiancé feuds and not discuss the feuding families of Pedro Jimeno and Chantel Everett. Between Chantel’s family accusing Pedro and his family of “harvesting the American dollar,” Chantel’s family thinking Pedro’s family was feeding them chicken feet to be disrespectful, or the table flipping during what was supposed to be a nice dinner, these two families just never could seem to get along.
Of course, the families’ inability to get along started from one singular mistake: Chantel lied to her family when Pedro first came to the US. She did not tell them that she was in a relationship with the Dominican Republic man, and said he was in the States on a student visa. This caused her family to mistrust Pedro from the get-go. The drama eventually led to both families starring on their spin-off show, The Family Chantel. Fans are relieved that these two finally got divorced! Viewers can see Chantel living her best single life on the aptly-named 90 Day: The Single Life.
Larissa Lima vs Colt and Debbie Johnson
Larissa Dos Santos Lima is notorious for her fiery personality and her many feuds with her then-partner Colt Johnson. The Brazilian beauty got in many screaming matches with Colt and his mother Debbie Johnson because Larissa felt that Colt wasn’t giving her enough attention and support against his mother. Debbie thought Larissa was rude and spoiled, but fans noticed that Debbie was rude to Larissa as well.
The feud peaked when Larissa famously stood at the top of the stairs and yelled “Who is against the Queen will die!” This was in response to Debbie referring to her as the “queen” in a rude manner. Larissa has been fired from the franchise, but Colt’s true colors have been revealed in consequent relationships, so fans are no longer Team Larissa. Apparently, Debbie and Larissa now get along. Who knew?
