Mirror, mirror on the wall: which Real Housewives of Potomac star changed the most overall? The quick answer is Wendy Osefo. I loved me some Dr. Wendy. She came in hot with miles of education, wholesome values, and the ability to read people as if she had earned another doctorate. But RHOP Season 8 has shown a new side to Wendy, who is not exactly the Bravo star we once knew. She is now drama-creating, shrine-denying, and self-gratifying. Please can someone tell Wendy to shape up or ship out?
Has Wendy Become Another Casualty of Reality TV?
Sum 41 said it best, “I don’t wanna waste my time. Become another casualty of society,” but it seems that Wendy has gleefully embraced leaving her higher education behind to get down and dirty with the rest of her reality TV co-stars.
I really was a Wendy fan when she first sauntered onto the Real Housewives of Potomac. Still, it is sad to see someone who prided herself on being a political consultant earning her Ph.D. in Public-Affairs Community Development from Rutgers University and is a professor at Johns Hopkins University go downhill.
Here Is Why I Am Starting To Hate Wendy
Since when did Wendy turn into a brain-dead, wax candle-making talk show host? Wendy recently discussed hosting her own Oprah-like morning show that would be only for the elevated. The description left something to be desired and made Wendy look a bit unrealistic in her thinking.
All Bod No Brains
It is clear to me that Wendy is in search of her hot girl moment, who, at this point in time, can’t even hold a reasonable conversation with her Nigerian sister, Nneka Ihim. Instead of using facts, the mother of three has resorted to ‘I’m better than you ‘-laced insults that make her look really, really dumb, uneducated, and devoid of decent communication and listening skills.
Even though Wendy feels that after her breast augmentation and a Brazilian butt-lift, she gets to be her authentic self, that is not how her newfound confidence is coming across. Since day one, Wendy has always come across as though she believed she was better than the rest of the women, and Season 8 has only magnified that belief. Honestly, it is exhausting to watch, and I find myself rooting against her.
Wendy Has Become a Liar
One of the great things about Wendy was the fact that her life was dictated facts, not made-up stories. However, with the introduction of Nneka, Wendy is starting to slip and tell tall tales. The newest housewife accused the educator of denying knowing her in-law, Lebe Iwu. As the women and viewers listened to the fight, it was clear Nneka came with reciepts while Wendy continued to grasp at straws. Bravo production did Wendy dirty as they showed the one and only Lebe at Wendy’s daughter’s baptism being honored by the new mother.
There was no way to explain her way out of that lie, and everyone knew. Wendy was also caught manipulating text messages. First, Wendy took to X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, to explain.
“Sigh … I have really been minding my business this season [and] not reacting/tweeting about #RHOP. But this narrative is getting malicious… You say you don’t know me, but a year [and] a half ago, BEFORE we started filming, you kept pressing Lebe to ask me to have dinner with you.” She then shared what looked to be screenshots of conversations. However, All About The Tea reported that parts of the text exchange were omitted.
Everyone Is Tired of Wendy’s Accolades
I can’t take away that Wendy has achieved a lot in her life, but damn can she give it a rest? Many viewers also have multiple degrees and side hustles, but it doesn’t make any of them better than the others. I’m actually tired of hearing about Wendy’s accolades simply because she brings them up in the context of elevating herself during an argument. Remember, “It’s Dr. Wendy to YOU, sweetie?” Not cool, as the move comes off as extremely pretentious.
I either need Wendy to be the cool housewife she once was or to jog on. I have no room for another housewife who pretends to be something she isn’t. I’m tired of Wendy starting messy drama due to jealousy; another Nigerian housewife is stepping on her turf. Honestly, my heart only has room for one woman like that: Gizelle Bryant.
