Ariana Madix and Katie Maloney’s sandwich shop, Something About Her, has been in the works for a while. Like, a WHILE, a while. Since Vanderpump Rules Season 9, in fact. The shop was initially hailed as a great idea. This would be a chance for two of the women of VPR to show off their restaurant business chops. After all, the boys had their bar, let Katie and Ariana have their sandwich shop!
After Scandoval, Something About Her received renewed interest, and fans flooded Ariana (and Katie) with support. Buying SAH merch was a way for viewers to stick it to Tom Sandoval and showcase their allegiance to Ariana.
But with every passing month, fans are getting restless.
At this point, the merchandise that Ariana and Katie keep releasing is a more real business than the sandwich shop itself. It’s starting to seem like this could all be a missed opportunity. Personally? I’d love to see Ariana and Katie finally open SAH. It’s a great idea and it would be satisfying to see them succeed. However, the delay doesn’t seem to have an end in sight, and if Something About Her doesn’t open soon, it might not open ever.
The SAH Merch Drops Are Pissing Fans Off
Recently, Katie and Ariana dropped some SAH merch, just in time for the holidays. The VPR stars collaborated with Hippy Feet on SAH-branded socks. Still on the hunt for Christmas presents? Got 19 bucks (or $34 for two pairs!)? Well, they’re not sold out yet! To be fair, half the proceeds go to charity, so that’s nice, I guess.
Of course, Ariana and Katie shouldn’t be surprised by the less than enthusiastic comments they received from perplexed followers when they dropped the announcement. The VPR ladies have now released quite a bit of merchandise for a sandwich shop that doesn’t exist yet. Though some of their sales are going to charity (again, props, ladies), it’s still easy for some fans to see their merch as a cash grab.
Some fans have reported waiting weeks after placing the orders to hear confirmation that their order had even shipped. Overall, there have been a lot of complaints, including designs, item quality, and irritation that the store they’re trying to support still hasn’t opened.
Vanderpump Rules Season 11 Is a Golden Opportunity
I get it, seriously. Opening a restaurant is a huge undertaking, and even after that, being able to build a clientele and make the business profitable takes time. It’s no wonder that so many new restaurants don’t last long. Honestly, Ariana and Katie show a lot of chutzpah simply making the attempt.
But the ladies may want to step on the gas, because the upcoming Vanderpump Rules Season 11 is a huge opportunity that they would be fools to miss.
Vanderpump Rules Season 10 featured Tom Sandoval and Tom Schwartz struggling to finally get their bar, Schwartz & Sandy’s, open to the public. However, the bulk of Season 10 was filmed between July 2022 and September 2022. Schwartz & Sandy’s actually opened in November 2022, so it was already available to the public when VPR Season 10 began airing in February 2023.
It was an extremely savvy move on Sandoval and Schwartz’s part (perhaps at the urging of Lisa Vanderpump) to make sure the bar was open in time for the Season 10 premiere. Obviously, interest in the VPR stars and their businesses peaks while the show is airing.
While this ultimately backfired on the Toms due to Scandoval, Katie and Ariana should still strive to get their sandwich shop open in time for the premiere of Vanderpump Rules Season 11. There’s huge anticipation for the upcoming season, which will no doubt feature the development of SAH as a storyline. Ariana and Katie shouldn’t miss out on the opportunity to capitalize on that attention.
Ariana and Katie’s Reputations Are On the Line
Of course, one of the biggest reasons why Ariana and Katie really need to hurry up and open SAH is that their reputations rest upon it. The longer Something About Her takes to open, the less fans think that it actually will. Each month that passes plants more seeds of doubt in fans’ minds. There’s a lot that could go wrong to derail the project, and many of the VPR stars’ followers are wondering what the holdup is.
Plus, a difficult truth to consider is that even the Toms…the TOMS, for god’s sake, were able to get their bar open. Katie and Ariana can’t let those two bozos outdo them! Here’s hoping they can push SAH over the hump and get those doors open.
