Injury is an unfortunate reality of life, one that can occur at any time. The Below Deck franchise has shown just how common injury is in the workplace, and those injuries are coming to Below Deck Med. Whether it’s a caught leg or a burnt hand, none of the boat’s crew are invincible. Captain Sandy Yawn proved just as much in a recent Below Deck Mediterranean preview.
Things have been heating up on Below Deck Med Season 8. The drama between Tumi Mhlongo and Natalya Scudder has been palpable. Although the two came to an agreed ceasefire, Kyle Viljoen hasn’t helped things along.
Beyond that, Monday night’s episode saw some tension between Captain Sandy and Luka Brunton, with the Captain telling her bosun to step up. The chat was more about helping Luka than chastising him. But perhaps the chastising will come next week with an apparently preventable injury.
Below Deck Med preview: Luka was “sh*tting” himself after Sandy’s injury
On Monday, October 30, Bravo released a preview for next week’s episode, featuring an unexpected injury. The clip saw Captain Sandy attempting to help Luka with a paddleboard when she suddenly tripped and fell backward. The camera then cut to the Captain heading out on a tender boat, presumably to receive medical attention.
In a confessional, Luka told the camera, “I’m f*cking sh*tting myself. I f*cking broke Captain Sandy’s wrist.” Meanwhile, the preview featured other moments of drama as well. Before the wrist incident, Captain Sandy was seen speaking with Natalya, the latter telling her captain, “I just don’t think mentally I’m doing well on the boat.”
On top of that, some drama was promised between Kyle and Jessika Asai. Kyle was calling out his fellow stew over some comments she made behind his back. Unfortunately, fans will have to wait to receive full context to these clips. Moreover, speculation abounds as to what Sandy’s wrist injury means for her future, as well as the future of the charter.
Below Deck Mediterranean continues Mondays at 9/8c on Bravo.
