Last night saw quite the emotional rollercoaster on Dancing with the Stars, and Ariana Madix gave in to those emotions. The October 24 show featured the Most Memorable Year dances, where the stars and their partners base dances off one of the most memorable years in the stars’ lives.
For Ariana, the most memorable year chosen was 2023, and it’s hardly a wonder why. Scandoval and its aftermath made 2023 a memorable year for any Vanderpump Rules viewer, let alone the VPR stars.
So, Ariana and her partner Pasha Pashkov set out to craft a Viennese Waltz that would encapsulate Ariana’s 2023. With a dance set to Billie Eilish’s “Happier Than Ever,” emotions ran high for Ariana and viewers alike.
Dancing with the Stars: Ariana Madix “found [her] dream again”
In a video package before the dance, Ariana commented on her 2023 experience. She said, “Watching my entire life implode in public, my anxiety and depression were at an all-time high. I wasn’t eating or sleeping.” She added of the 2023 experience, “What I’ve learned about myself is when something is really hard, I can get through it.”
In regards to the song, Ariana said, “It feels so amazing to know I will be dancing to the song ‘Happier Than Ever’ because when I think back to scream-crying it in the car, I certainly never thought that this is where I would end up.” Ariana has said how happy she is to be in DWTS, a long-held dream of hers. Beyond that, she’s appeared to reach a good place emotionally.
“I feel like I’ve found my dream again,” Ariana told Julianne Hough while fighting back tears. She explained, “I wish my grandma was here to see it. I lost her last year, and she would have really loved to see that.” Anyone would be crying given that context. At the end of the night, Ariana and Pasha were safe with a score of 24 out of 30.
Dancing with the Stars continues Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. ET on ABC and Disney+.
