What happens when Real Housewives of Potomac’s shade assassin meets the indomitable presence that is Porsha Williams? We’re about to find out this season on Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip. Starting March 23, 2023, on Peacock, we’ll see the all-star lineup of Housewives converge in Thailand for a week of pure chaos. In a recent interview with E! News, Candiace Dillard Bassett teased the drama that’s in store for her and Porsha, and it sounds like it will be juicer than an Atlanta peach.
Bravo’s The Daily Dish covered all of the details from Candiace’s interview. She shared that she was less than thrilled to learn Porsha would be a part of the trip to Thailand. She explained, “We had this public beef. I was kind of not excited to see her for a lot of reasons.”
In case you forgot, Candiace and Porsha’s beef dates all the way back to Season 5 of RHOP. There have been about ten cheating scandals and two black eyes in the Bravo universe since then. It’s probably a little hard to remember. However, when the first fight went down between Candiace and Monique Samuels, Porsha took to Bravo’s Chat Room to profess her allegiance to #TeamMonique.
Porsha said at the time, “[Monique] felt like the whole reason Candiace was suing her was to pay for her mom’s house. She was suing because it was a money grab.”
Of course, Candiace didn’t take too kindly to Porsha weighing in on the Potomac drama. She clapped back, calling it “sad and pathetic” that the Real Housewives of Atlanta star would be butting into another franchise’s drama. At the time, Candiace said, “You are not in Potomac, you are in Atlanta. That’s the bottom line. I have a lot of opinions about Housewives. If you are part of this franchise, you are or were at one time a viewer or fan of the show.”
She continued, “We are in a league of our own and I respect and love the club that we are in. I am not paid in the name of Jesus to comment on anyone else’s sagas or dramas.”
So, when it came time for these ladies to head to Thailand, it’s understandable why Candiace wasn’t eager to come face-to-face with Porsha. Candiace says the two didn’t start on the right foot during the trip, which shouldn’t come as a huge surprise. Their dynamic is teased in the Season 3 trailer when Candiace confronted Porsha about her marriage to Simon Guobadia and the questionable relationship timeline. She asks, “Y’all became friends, and two minutes later, you and her husband were dating. You stole somebody’s man.”
Candiace has such a way with words, doesn’t she? And although the two ladies got off to a rocky start, she teased that they had a happy ending by the time the trip was done. Of course, it’s not often that we can say that in the world of The Real Housewives.
“Spoiler alert: I was at her wedding, so obviously we get to a good place,” Candiace teased about her relationship with Porsha.
“I think we just misjudged one another. I’m a vibes person — like, we be vibin’ — and when I got in her presence, she’s, like, a really sweet woman. I think she’s misunderstood, much like yours truly. And we were able to kind of figure it out,” Candiace said.
