In the Real Housewives universe, it’s definitely easy to draw comparisons between Real Housewives of New York OG Ramona Singer and fired Real Housewives of Orange County star Kelly Dodd. They both seem to not know when to put their foot in their mouth and shut up when spewing nonsense. And both are pretty problematic from time to time, and oftentimes, that’s putting it lightly.
Kelly and Ramona are also friends in real life. Hell, Ramona introduced Kelly to her current husband Rick Leventhal, and Kelly wanted Ramona in her wedding. However, on a recent episode of Kelly’s irrelevant podcast with Rick, she apparently dished that Ramona doesn’t want to appear in photos with her to avoid backlash from Bravo fans. Not totally a surprise. And to be clear, I didn’t listen to the pod — Heavy reported on the clip that Kelly apparently posted on Instagram. (I wouldn’t know — she seems to have me blocked on Insta *shrugs*)

In the clip, Kelly said she recently went to Aspen to hang out with Mona while she was staying there for a few weeks. “And, rightfully so, she said to me, ‘I don’t want to take any pictures with you, for fear of getting hate,” Kelly said. “And I see it.” She goes on to say that when Shannon Beador posted a promo for Kelly’s podcast, she received hella backlash. “Shannon Beador only has 200 comments on all her old pictures, she takes a picture for me and she gets 32,000 comments,” Kelly said. And it’s not because Kelly’s the female equivalent of Howard Stern, no matter how hard she believes. Real Housewives of New Jersey star Jackie Goldschneider knows the feeling. But can you really blame them?
Especially after the trainwreck of a season that was RHONY this year, Ramona doesn’t want to get herself in any more hot water. There are rumors swirling that she could be fired like Kelly, or that the show, in general, might be in jeopardy. So the Ramonacoaster needs to tip-toe lightly if she doesn’t want that apple to get snatched right out of her hand. And showing off her buddy-buddy attitude with Kelly clearly isn’t a way to get the fans behind her, especially after her Season 13 performance.
