Below Deck Mediterranean is absolutely blowing every other bravo show (except Real Housewives of Potomac) out of the water right now. I am already a week ahead on Paramount. It’s just impossible to look away from this mess. And I mean that in the nicest way possible.
If you’re like me and desperate for more yachtie drama, I cannot recommend season two of Below Deck Sailing Yacht enough. This season had boatmances to spare. Since filming has wrapped, the drama of this season has only continued to escalate. Two crew members walked away from the season having made a baby together (though we are still waiting on final a paternity test). And don’t forget the bosun-deckhand-stew love triangle!
In season two of Sailing Yacht, stewardess Alli Dore found herself tangled up with bosun Gary King and deckhand Sydney Zaruba. Alli and Gary sailed off into the sunset together after the charter season ended. Sadly, their relationship didn’t even make it to the reunion episode filming. Instead, Alli announced at the reunion that she was expecting a new baby of her own!
In an Instagram post made in Australia, Alli announced to her followers that she and her partner Benny are having a boy! Alli posted a photo of herself holding a poorly decorated blue frosted cake. Her caption said, “So excited to be a boy mum in a few weeks and I can’t wait to see @bennithompson become the most amazing dad to our little man.” Adorable.
The real news though, is this mess of a cake. I mean really, this thing looks worse than what Below Deck Med’s Mathew Shea and Courtney Veale tried to pull off in this week’s ep. Alli didn’t miss that fact either. She explained, “This cake actually has a kind of funny story to it. I spent most of my pregnancy working away on a boat in the Whitsundays and Benny and I also lived in different states for months, so we didn’t get to do any celebrating of our baby. But when I found out the gender Benny was coming up to visit me when I had a few days off work between charters.”

“My captain was amazing enough to sort us out a weekend on one of the islands,” Alli continued. “So I really wanted to do a blue themed gender reveal surprise dinner and see if he would catch on to the blue theme throughout courses, then I wanted to arrange a beautiful cake as the final touch (this cake was not exactly what I had in mind)” Yea, I highly doubt it was!
This cake, for anyone who hasn’t taken a peek yet, came fully loaded with gobs of blue frosting, two haphazard chunks atop that are trying to be baby-shoes, and a message reading “It’s A Boy” in THICK icing. It’s definitely memorable. Just not in the way Alli had originally meant. She admitted, “I was thinking a little more fancy and it was meant to be blue on the INSIDE to retain the element of surprise.” She also wrote, “This cake that looks like my 4 year old niece assisted on it.”
In the end, Alli and her man had to “literally pretend it was this big surprise that Ben didn’t know about.” Apparently they even got applauses from surrounding tables! I am actually laughing imagining this.

In any event, there you have it. Graceful as ever Alli is having a boy! Congrats to the happy couple!
