Bugsy Drake may have only been Chief Stew for one season on Below Deck Mediterranean, but her legacy will live on forever it seems. Captain Sandy Yawn clearly suffered greatly during the four seasons she had to endure Hannah Ferrier uninspired table decor. Katie Flood is a fantastic interior manager so far on Season Six. Captain Sandy seems happy with her performance and tablescapes, but nothing can quite take the breath away like Bugsy’s creations.
What was it about those decorations that are so individual to Bugsy? Some call her visuals tacky or compare them to an explosion of Claire’s merchandise. Some rave about her creativity and eye for the craft. Either you will buy her book or not. But it’s Sandy persistent hyperbole for Bugsy that is the notable issue here. She even wrote the forward for Bugsy’s book. And now that Sandy is the proud owner of Bugy’s publication, she is dishing out more publicity for her favorite chief stew.
Bugsy shared a picture of Sandy holding the book on her Instagram page and captioned it, “This Badass Captain-@captainsandrayawn has got her hands on my book, ‘THE ART OF TABLESCAPING’ Thank you for being such an amazing mentor and an the most incredible inspiration to me Cap!”
It seems the enthusiasm for each other’s character and professionalism goes both ways. Bugsy continued with a mix of compliments and hawking of her merchandise. “I could not have thought of anyone better to have written my forward,” she wrote, “I absolutely loved being your Chief Stew in the Med!! If you haven’t already got your hands on my book it is available at the link in my bio or @amazon ! I am so incredibly grateful to have been able to share my passion with the world!”
“I’m so proud of you!” Sandy gushed in the comments. But it gets more intense. In another picture, Bugsy shared a screenshot of the forward that Sandy wrote for ‘THE ART OF TABLESCAPING.’ “Bugs is the true queen of tablescapes,” Sandy began, “having worked with her, I can say that witnessing her tablescapes is every captain’s dream. They are a true extension of her passion in providing incredible, top-of-the-line guest experience.”

If you remember Sandy’s main issue with Hannah was that she viewed yachting as merely a job. It almost sounds like she is chastising Hannah while simultaneously complimenting Bugsy. “When someone loves what they do, it pours into their passions. It comes from their soul,” she wrote.
This book is a vehicle to bring Bugsy’s magic fairy dust to your social events. Whatever makes Sandy gush over Bugsy so may become clear after reading this book. The Below Deck Med captain said as much to conclude the forward. Sandy wrote, “I’m thrilled that people beyond our charters finally get to learn from the Bugsy I know and respect-the best of the best, and the queen of theme.”
