Shahs of Sunset has been on hiatus for almost a year, but that doesn’t mean the cast has been laying low since then. Fans of the show followed Mercedes “MJ” Javid’s high risk pregnancy, which happily resulted in the birth of her son Shams in April with hubby Tommy Feight. Sadly, shortly after Sham’s birth, MJ’s bestie Reza Farahan took out a restraining order on Tommy after he allegedly threatened him and damaged some items on Reza’s patio. Tommy later pled no contest to charges of vandalism and trespassing and was sentenced to 10 days in jail. I guess MJ and Tommy won’t be asking Reza to babysit anytime soon!
As if all this drama wasn’t enough, Reza reportedly has threatened legal action against co-star Mike Shouhed regarding a t-shirt line. Whew–I can hardly keep up! Thankfully, not all of the Shah’s cast has been facing personal drama or legal entanglements since last season. Golnesa “GG” Gharachedaghi has also been busy, but on a more positive note. She announced in early October that she is expecting her first baby.
At last year’s Shahs of Sunset reunion, GG admitted that she had babies on the brain, which surprised her co-stars. GG announced that she was ready to become a single mother. When I think of the ideal temperament of someone contemplating motherhood, GG would not be the first name that would come to mind, but everyone has the ability to change for the better.
GG recently gave an update on her pregnancy in an Instagram post. She shared, “I was born with a rare hearing loss and only have 28% hearing. And as I’ve gone through life missing out on many amazing sounds, being able to hear the sound of my baby’s heartbeat is truly the most beautiful thing I’ve ever been able to experience! So grateful!”

We probably don’t automatically think of GG as someone who is vulnerable or sentimental, but it is nice to see this side of her. GG explained in an earlier season of Shahs of Sunset that she has had a severe hearing loss since birth and talked about how this had impacted her life. Hearing her baby’s heartbeat has to be an amazing moment for someone who lives with hearing loss.
When GG announced her pregnancy, she revealed that she had used a sperm donor and had conceived over the summer. She also divulged that she had an etopic pregnancy in the spring, which resulted in the removal of both of her Fallopian tubes, necessitating IVF to conceive.

2019 has been a big year of changes for GG. She was finally divorced from Shalom Yeroushalmi after a brief seven week marriage earlier this year–a divorce which took almost two years to finalize. Now she is preparing to become a mother. Here’s wishing GG a healthy, safe and happy pregnancy.
