It’s that time again, Married At First Sight is back! Last week these Charlotte singles informed their friends and family about their pending nuptials. Basically it went like this…surprise I’m about to marry a complete stranger! This season the families took it surprisingly well. Maybe what we saw on camera was not their initial reaction. I know my family would have escorted me to the nearest psych ward for testing. I love this show, but I don’t think I could live with a stranger for eight weeks and call him my husband. The experts claim they use science and insight from previous seasons to make decisions on matches. Let’s hope this year, these singles fair better than some others in the past. But after viewing the trailer, this season looks like it’s going to be interesting to say the least!!!!! There is everything from virgins, estranged family to cheating. Ughhh… Please don’t give us another Luke Cuccurullo and Kate Sisk fiasco. I don’t know if I have enough time to participate in shaming another deranged manipulator.
On the season premiere, Deonna McNeill and Gregory Okotie were the first to walk to their demise down the aisle. They both find one another attractive, which is a good sign. This couple seems sweet, but I know better than to be swayed from a first impression. I have been watching this show long enough to know everything that glitters isn’t gold. A couple can seem like the perfect match and in a week it’s the war of the roses. Amber Bowles and Matt Gwynne were the second couple to tie the knot. Her bridal party is definitely impressed by his appearance. He may be cute, but he didn’t inform or invite any of his family about his wedding. Red flag!!!!!!!
On this week’s episode, we get to see the final two couples walk down the aisle. Cue the nerves and instant bubble guts; the second half of the group seems the most nervous. Elizabeth Bice and Howie Mandel Jaime Thompson are the third couple to jump the broom. They are as nervous as they are awkward upon meeting. Elizabeth, girl I don’t think you lipstick matching your hair was a wise choice. It was a little too twilight for me. Jaime clearly made up his vows on the spot. What the heck do you mean “thanks for being you.” Ummm… yes, I’m predicting this couple will be entertaining. FYI… that is not necessarily a good thing, it just means I’m petty and like drama. Don’t judge me!
Iris Caldwell and Keith Manley are the last couple to say their vows. Iris is a virgin and I really don’t want her to see her hurt. I hope she doesn’t give away her virginity unless she can truly for see forever with Keith. Twenty Seven years is a long time to wait, I don’t want her to have any regrets. Keith you better treat her right!!!! If not, Iris’ mom is a reporter and her dad is a cop. Godspeed if you make a wrong step Keith! Hopefully this works out because they truly make a beautiful couple. Only time will tell who is deserving of the viewer’s respect.
All the couples are now legally married and it’s time for the awkwardly intimate photo shoot. While some couples have to build up their comfort level others can’t stop kissing one another. Amber reminds me of a Chihuahua in heat, she can’t keep her hands off Matt. Slow down, girl! She heard basketball player and turned full on groupie. During the reception each couple seems to fare well even through the spectacle of their first dance. Iris’ dad has a breakdown watching a stranger with his baby girl. Maybe it was the fact Keith had his hand on her behind moments before. Little does he know, that is the most action he will be getting for a long time. Awww… I really hope at least this couple works out.
During Amber and Matt’s reception, the DJ calls Matt to do a mother son dance. Awkward…. someone isn’t getting a tip. It probably was hard enough not having his family before it was announced to the entire room. Amber’s mom steps in and asks her new son in law to dance in an effort to redirect the attention. I can’t wait to find out the real deal behind why his family wasn’t in attendance. It seems very suspect to me.
The reception is full of weird encounters and nosy loved ones. Amber’s bridesmaids pull her new husband aside and inquire about his family. I don’t think they should be interrogating him, before his wife learns more about him. But I did glean he is very upset about his parent’s divorce. The inappropriate questions don’t end there. Jaime is asked does he expect sex that night by bridesmaids. Keith’s mom asks Iris about the significance of her white dress and finds out she is a virgin. Really, mom? Is that any of YOUR business??? Keith’s mom then takes him aside and tells him. WHOOOOO, child. I couldn’t help but nervously giggle through this conversation. There was so much suspense, I was dreading him having a bad reaction. You could tell he was shocked but I thought he handled hearing the information well. Hopefully he truly has the patience of a saint. It didn’t seem like it was a deal breaker, so there’s hope.
So here are my predictions in 60 seconds…. Jaime is weird. Iris will give her virginity to Keith during this season. At least one of these women is overbearing or crazy. There is always at least one on the show. At least 50% of the couples will not stay married. Let me know down in the comments your thoughts..
