Nobody does shade like the Real Housewives of Atlanta. New Housewife Shamari DeVoe jumped headfirst into the shade pool when she joined the series this season. It didn’t take long for costars like Marlo Hampton to start shading her taste in fashion. Marlo considers herself the fashion queen of the group, making her perfect to “assist” Shamari in her choices. On a recent trip to Destin, FL Shamari refused to take advice from Marlo and her “Pirates of the Caribbean” style.
Shamari halfheartedly agreed to let Marlo style her just once. Unfortunately, things escalated later on the trip. The two ladies had a heated exchange on the trip which led to Marlo telling Shamari, “your momma the bitch”.
Recently, Shamari spoke with Bravo’s The Daily Dish podcast. She had A LOT more to say about the situation. “If ‘fashionable’ is using other people’s credit cards to pay for fashions that you can’t afford, then yeah, she’s definitely fashionable.”
Shamari’s epic clapback shade didn’t stop there. Shamari had some life advice for Marlo: “Stop using labels to cove up your insecurities.” OUCH! Mic drop. It appears that Shamari came to play this season. Let’s not forget the Destin trip when Shamari shaded Marlo saying, “I was an A-list when you was an alias.”
Clearly, Shamari has hit a breaking point when it comes to Marlo. Things have smoothed over a bit on the current episodes, but it looks like Shamari isn’t over it yet. Between losing the fashion contest to Tanya Sam and losing her bags in Tokyo, Marlo is likely to be on the warpath. If Shamari continues to test the waters with Marlo, it might get ugly as the season rages on.

The comments by Shamari about how Marlo pays for her fashion items echoes what the ladies have been wondering for years. Shamari is repeating things that her fellow Housewives have been saying for many seasons, and Marlo’s response is always vague. There doesn’t seem to be a definitive answer about what Marlo does for a living and how she affords labels.
Shamari has been the complete opposite of vague this season. She has been very open and transparent for viewers. Shamari wasted no time opening up to the group about her previously open relationship. Perhaps Shamari wants Marlo to be just as open and honest as her? Although, it doesn’t seem like we will be getting love and light between the two anytime soon.
Shamari may regret lighting this fire under Marlo, but this shade war is a welcome development. It’s been a slow season of the Real Housewives of Atlanta so far, so its good to see the ladies bringing the heat.
