Dancing With The Stars Performance Recap – Night Of The Threesomes

Last week we said buh-bye to Jaleel White on Dancing with the Stars, leaving us with just six couples. Last night, the couples danced twice. First, they danced one-on-one and then later, as a threesome.

First up, Donald Driver and Peta Murgatroyd danced a sassy tango that Len absolutely loved. Bruno said he thought he’d have to call a marriage counselor because they were so convincing in their aggression.

Maria Menounos and Derek Hough tackle the Viennese Waltz with a whole lotta smoke/dry ice. And they’re after the Twilight votes again this week, this time with their music choice from ‘Breaking Dawn’.

Melissa Gilbert and Maksim Chmerkovskiy weren’t off-the-charts amazing, but I gave them points for Maksim’s adorable school boy nerdy getup. Carrie Ann says it was their best dance ever.

Mark Ballas and Katherine Jenkins danced the Viennese Waltz and impressed the judges. They are praised for the content and technique.

Roshon Fegan and Chelsie Hightower were my favorites of the night just because they were so adorable together. Len called them dancing munchkins, which was odd, but munchkins are cute, so I’ll take it. They earned their highest score, a 29.

William Levy and Cheryl Burke danced the Fox Trot. William cleaned up nice in his tuxedo. All three judges were so blown away that they awarded them a perfect 30.

For the second round, Donald and Peta were teamed up with Karina Smirnoff for the Jive. I think they did the best they could with the awkward trio dance. Len labeled it “fun, fun, fun”. And of course we have a few “three-way” innuendos, but remember this is a family show….

Maria & Derek dance with Henry from the dance troupe. They decided on a Bollywood theme for their Samba. Not quite as impressive as Donald/Peta/Karina, but it was fun. Len says it was nothing like a Samba at all. He gets booed for giving them a 7, but I think it was justified.

Maks & Melissa pick Val to dance with them for the Samba. I don’t know if it’s just the addition of a smoldering Chmerkovskiy brother, but it was their best dance yet.

Katherine & Mark choose to bring back Tristan MacManus to help with the their cha-cha trio. Katherine is a pro when part of her costume gets stuck on her foot, eventually flinging it off, but it was distracting for a while there. Bruno told her she was blonde coolness, like Charlize Theron.

Roshon & Chelsie added in Sasha from the dance troupe to help man up their Paso Doble. I didn’t get their music choice, it was very “pop” for their “matador/manly/Spanish” dance?

Last up in the trio dance, Cheryl & William pick Tony Dovolani as their third. The three of them earned a 27.

I’ll admit that this far into the season isn’t as fun as the beginning when everyone is a bit of a mess on the dance floor! They all did really well, in my unprofessional opinion.

Scores after both rounds:

Katherine Jenkins and Mark Ballas – 26 & 29

William Levy and Cheryl Burke – 30

Donald Driver and Peta Murgatroyd – 27 & 28

Melissa Gilbert and Maks Chmerkovskiy – 24 & 27

Maria Menounous and Derek Hough – 28 & 25

Roshon Fegan and Chelsie Hightower – 29 & 27

Tomorrow night we say goodbye to two couples and then it’s on to the semi-finals next week!
