Throughout the years, Melissa Gorga has tried out a few different careers for story lines on Real Housewives of New Jersey. She has tried singing (an interest that I want her to revive next season), running a fashion boutique, owning an Italian restaurant, and just like most Housewives she “wrote” wrote a book.
According to reports, Melissa and her husband Joe Gorga had yet another career in mind and it also involves reality television.
An “inside source” told Page Six that the Gorgas wanted their own TV show. Reportedly, “Joe was going to build the houses with his construction business and Melissa was going to get her real estate license and be the interior designer.”
Apparently they didn’t move forward with the plan because of Melissa’s contract with Bravo. Even so, this same “insider” points out that Joe does not have a contractual obligation to Bravo.
I wonder if they ever pitched this show to Bravo. I have to assume they did since that would make the most sense for Melissa’s contract situation. It’s also safe to assume that Bravo passed considering planned title for the show was Flipping Joe, which is a pretty similar title (and concept) to the already-existing Bravo show Flipping Out. Not only that, but Bravo has way too many enough home renovation and real estate shows on the network. The network already has Flipping Out, Bethenny & Fredrik, and two(?) Million Dollar Listing shows.
As expected, reps for Melissa and Joe did not respond to Page Six‘s request for comments.
