So far, the Real Housewives of New Jersey viewers have seen Siggy Flicker in response to other people’s story lines. She is doing what she can to help her BFF Dolores Catania become her own person after a breakup. The Sig is encouraging her kids to do their best and struggling not to be overbearing.
Aside from her legendary entrance with the post-face lift bandages around her head, Siggy has not really had a story line that’s just “hers.” Siggy’s focus on other people’s lives does make sense though since she is a “relationship expert” for a living. So I guess her effort to fix her loved ones’ problems is her thing. Nevertheless, I hope that Siggy does get a chance to shine on her own instead of solely serving as the peacemaker and group therapist. For now, Siggy is sounding off about Dolores’s new phase in her life and her children growing up.

Other than her proclivity to refer to herself in the third person, we don’t really know too much about Siggy so far, so it’s really not surprising that she used her Bravo blog entry talking about her BFF Dolores and her children.
Siggy explained her devotion to being friends with Dolores when she wrote, “When Dolores hurts, I hurt. My heart absolutely broke for her when she lost her Boo. I wish I could’ve done more to ease her pain, but I was content just to snuggle up in bed with her and let her know I’m always there for her. Whether it’s mourning the lost of her beloved Boo or helping her figure out her finances, I’m there to help her. Dolores is well on her way to being independent of any man, and getting her bills in order was a crucial part of the process.”

It’s wonderful that Siggy is supporting Dolores. I’m sure that having a “relationship expert” as a best friend would be super helpful in many situations. I just hope that Siggy gets some story lines of her own this season instead of solely relegating herself to a supporter of the other ladies. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure she’s an asset to their friend group, but as a viewer I just want to see Siggy talking about herself for once. Yes, she’s loud and has a lot to say, but it’s never about her own life. I feel like we don’t really “know” her.
It’s interesting how Siggy is all about Dolores being an independent woman, but she struggles to watch her kids do the same thing. Siggy touched on this when she wrote, “Independence for Dolores is great… it’s my children’s independence that I’m clearly having a rough time dealing with. It’s funny how I’ve raised my kids to be successful on their own, and now that it’s really starting to happen, it’s my worst nightmare come true!”
I’m not a mom, but I feel like her struggle is pretty common and it’s nice that she has been honest about it with her fans. It’s clear that Siggy is a giving person which makes her super likable, but hopefully we get to learn more about her as an individual and her some real opinions as the season rolls on.
