The season 2 premiere of VH1’s Love & Hip Hop did not disappoint as it even included an all out brawl!
Newbie Kimbella Vanderhee, girlfriend of rapper Juelz Santana, found herself on the receiving end of an attack by Chrissy Lampkin over a revelation she made to Emily Bustamante.
The explosive fight took place during a party Emily hosted to celebrate finally getting a backbone the end of her nine-year relationship with rapper Fabolous. Kimbella, not wanting to go the route of Evelyn Lozada on Basketball Wives, decided to inform Emily — in front of everyone — that she dated Fabolous while Emily B was pregnant with his son. Kimbella has stated she had no idea Fabolous had a girlfriend.
Emily, while appearing hurt, took the news rather calmly but for some reason, Chrissy decided to physically attack Kimbella claiming she had no right to inform Emily of the news the way she did. Chrissy, reportedly age 41, punched Kimbella and even savagely stomped on her while she was down.
Fast forward today and Chrissy is now revealing she regrets her actions… sort of, saying she is sorry for allowing Kimbella to take her to that place. Apparently, Kimbella is the one to blame for her over the top anger.
“I don’t regret my feelings, but I regret the way I allowed myself to be pulled out of character. [Vanderhee]’s another grown woman, and it’s crazy to put your hands on somebody like that,” said Chrissy to MTV News. “It’s just that I was so hurt and so caught in the moment — it was just reactional. I just reacted to the pain. I know it’s gonna sound crazy, but it wasn’t really personal.”
Chrissy goes on to admit she didn’t really give Kimbella a fair chance. “I really didn’t get a chance to know her [Kimbella], so I don’t know what her intent was, but I just felt like it was hurtful,” said Chrissy of coming to Emily’s defense. “I can only deal with what was in front of me and it just came across really hurtful.”
Chrissy’s boyfriend Jim Jones (who is on the same label as Kimbella’s boyfriend Juelz Santana) admits the fight put him in an awkward position. “It’s awkward,” Jim admitted. “If it was a fight with anyone else, it wouldn’t matter to me, but due to the fact that Juelz is my brother, it’s a little bit different.”
As for Kimbella, she insists she meant well in her actions. “I didn’t come at [Emily B] maliciously. I had good intentions and I wasn’t there to hurt anyone or take anything from anyone,” said Kimbella to MTV. “I could’ve taken her aside to tell her that privately, but I felt like in the moment, Emily was so proud that she was leaving [Fab], and I was just in that moment with her.”
My take is Chrissy’s actions were completely uncalled for… especially if she is 41-years-old. She is simply too grown to be attacking another woman… especially over an issue that doesn’t even concern her to begin with. I believe she had it out for Kimbella from the start. As for Kimbella, I don’t know if she really meant well with Emily (perhaps telling her in private would have been better), but she did not deserve to be attacked and stomped on.
As for Kimbella and Fabolous, he recently stated he did not date her and barely knows who she is. Uh uh.
