Below Deck’s Kate Chastain Thrilled With Leon Walker’s ‘Selfish’ Departure

Kate Chastain Thrilled to see Leon gone from Below Deck

Last week on Below Deck, we watched as Leon Walker made an ass of himself went down in flames, after attempting to cover up the fire he started by blaming Kate. Of course, in typical Leon fashion (or at least what we have seen all season), when Captain Lee then suggested that dinner service be Leon’s last, Walker wasn’t having it, and made sure that he had the last laugh by ditching everyone early.

Since then, we’ve already heard Captain Lee’s thoughts on Leon’s departure and how he feels that Leon wasted so much of his talent – wait, he has talent? Now, Kate Chastain, who has been butting heads with Leon all season has shared her thoughts, and it’s no shocker to say that Kate is not pleasantly surprised by Walker’s exit. Find out what Kate had to say after the jump!

It’s no secret that Kate Chastain was not, nor will she ever be, Leon Walker’s biggest fan. So, when Leon decided it was best to leave Below Deck, Kate was anything but upset – and who can blame her?

Instead, Chastain told Bravo, ” I was pleasantly not surprised. Leon leaving before the end of the charter was a selfish, ego based, and an unprofessional decision, so it was in line with all of his behavior up to that point. Most of all, I was relieved that I would no longer have to work in a hostile and combative environment. It felt like a large load of oppressive weight had been lifted off my shoulders, ” of Walker’s departure.

And despite Leon leaving in the middle of having so much more work to do, Kate knew deep down that the crew could pull it off without the resident jackass, or Rocky for that matter, who disappeared for several hours.

But what about Chef Ben coming in? “After five weeks of working with an insolent chef and petulant third stewardess, I was thrilled to finally have someone I trusted to do their job and bring positive energy back into the galley. Ben and I have a great friendship despite the fact that we have crossed the line with each other in the past. Whether it was a heated argument or casual fling, we’ve always been able to move on and laugh about it,” Chastain went on to add.
