The Kim Richards news just keeps getting weirder and, in my opinion, sadder by the day. Last week, reports surfaced of the former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills‘ shoplifting $600 worth of merchandise from a Van Nuys Target. Next thing we knew, Kim was out on $5,000 bail. Then her big sister, Kathy Hilton, was tweeting supportive statements for Kim, leading some to wonder whether Kathy was behind Kim’s bail out.
But TMZ is now reporting new details in Kim’s arrest, specifically that Kim stole not ONE, but TWO shopping carts filled with items, in part “from the dollar section” of Target.

According to the Target incident report, TMZ reveals Kim bagged up items from the dollar section (using those recycled/returnable bags), but told the express line cashier that she’d already paid for them. Kim then threw loose beauty products and toys in a second, separate cart, while the first cart apparently sat in the express line.
When Kim finally dragged the second cart out of the store, security stopped her. She was then arrested for theft after being held in the booking room by Target security.
If this one-cart-two-cart-red-cart-blue-cart stuff isn’t confusing enough, contradictory reports of Kim being hospitalized after the Target incident have also been floating around this weekend.
Although E! News and US Weekly reported that Kim had been hospitalized a short time after her arrest, ET is now reporting that Kim is “out and about.” Former reports claimed Kim was hospitalized after her family considered placing her under a 5150 involuntary psychiatric hold. However, according to ET’s source, Kim “is not currently locked up.”
Whatever her status may be, I hope someone or something intervenes on Kim’s downward spiral soon. Until then, the former reality star is due in court August 20th to deal with her shoplifting charges, to which she’s making a plea of not guilty.
