We all know that the Keeping up with the Kardashian klan loves nothing more than being followed around by kamera krew filming their every waking breath, but besides the obvious, what kreates the hierarchy of the family’s favorite ways to garner attention? Following at a close second behind being E!’s own EdTV is obviously dressing your child in an outfit that costs more than the average person’s salary and finding new ways to pose nude in every publication known to man. Of course, all of the Kardashians also adore posting vague, yet poignant (and often pointed) quotes on Instagram, but more so than that, they relish in stirring up drama on the same social media site.
Doing both this week is the most level-headed (it pains me to type that) Kardashian, Khloe. She’s using her Instagram to inspire and to insult, although I think the latter was unintentional (albeit totally stupid on her part!). Khloe is quite the kontradiction, isn’t she?

Footage of a paparazzi impromptu interview with Khloe’s ex (soon to be ex? Maybe/maybe not ex?) husband Lamar Odom surfaced earlier this week according to EOnline. The downfall of their marriage was plagued with stories of his infidelity and addiction, but Khloe seemed truly heartbroken they weren’t able to make it work. It’s telling that she has yet to follow through with obtaining a default divorce judgment after filing in late 2013. As recently as April, it was revealed that her divorce proceedings could be thrown out due to her complacency to follow through after the initial petition.
In the video, Lamar professed hope that the pair could reconcile, calling Khloe his “girl,” and asserting, “That’s my wife.” Is it koincidence (um, yeah, sure…) that Khloe posted a very touching and random quote (aren’t all inspirational saying posted on social media a tad random at best?) that seemed to be directed at her former NBA star love just after Lamar’s words hit the web? The quote her Instagram begins, “I know you’ve lost someone and it hurts. You may have lost them suddenly, unexpectedly. Or perhaps you began losing pieces of them until one day there was nothing left…You cannot control the depth of a wound another soul inflicts upon you,” and concludes, “What I will tell you is this; it’s okay to be hurting as much as you are. What you are feeling is not only completely valid but necessary—because it makes you so much more human. And though I can’t promise it will get better anytime soon, I can tell you that it will–eventually. For now, all you can do is take your time. Take all the time you need.” It looks like someone’s been doing some Inspiragramming (TM pending by yours truly)!
In fact, a source close to the couple tells the site that Lamar has been in California and the two “were trying to get back together,” although the past tense seems pretty relevant to her motivational words. For her part, Khloe has always shared that regardless of their relationship status, Lamar would hold a special place in her heart. Earlier this year she told the same site, “I will never, ever not love Lamar. I was so obsessed with him in a healthy way. He was my husband, and I still wish he was, and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that.”
So that’s how Khloe is inspiring on Instagram (or inspiragramming, as many choose to say. Go on, say it. Tell your friends!) this week. However, just a day before sharing her poetic ponderings, she managed to piss off a boat load of followers. How, you ask? Simple! She posted the above-posted picture with the caption, “Habibi Love” while traveling in Dubia on Monday. I don’t doubt that Khloe was just trying to being respectful of the region’s culture, but her photograph sparked a great deal of controversy, especially from people who have been alienated and mistreated for staying true to the same deep-rooted customs that Khloe is sporting like the latest line from her Kardashian Kollection. Girlfriend should know when to go Instoffthegrid. Not as catchy? I’ll work on it.
While many followers (Muslim and non-Muslim alike), defended Khloe’s post, the majority of the comments (many of which have been deleted) railed on the KUWTK star for what they perceived as insensitivity. Us Magazine was able to compile the statements of a few naysayers. One follower commented, “Women getting killed and beaten up for wearing the niqab, but you keep pretending it’s a fashion accessory, the disrespect,” while another chastised, “I have never been more offended in my whole entire life. My sister wears the niqab and she gets vilified daily. you can wear it and it gets sexualised and praised. i am deeply offended and was a fan of yours, i am disgusted. “
I guess all of this just proves the old adage that you can’t win the Internet (unless you’re Winstagramming it, amirite? Stop me now…), but Khloe’s sister Kim should have taught her that was a losing battle a long time ago!
