It’s been less than a month since Teresa Giudice self-surrendered to Danbury Prison to begin serving her 15 month sentence. With all the changes, Gia Giudice reveals how she’s coping in her mom’s absence.

Gia says the Real Housewives Of New Jersey star is “doing amazing,” contrary to reports that Teresa is being bullied and ostracized by fellow inmates. Gia confirms they have visited Teresa, and adds that she “chats and emails with her all the time.”

“We talk to her daily. And we have access to email her whenever we want,” shares Gia. “It definitely helps coping with me missing her.” Federal inmates pay for phone and email privileges. Some facilities apparently cap the usage at 300 hours per month, but minimum security facilities do not.

Gia feels inspired by how her mother is handling the difficult situation and says she was prepared for Teresa’s leaving. “I knew it was coming,” Gia explains to Access Hollywood. “She always said to me, ‘Stay strong for mommy, you’ll see me soon.'”

In Teresa’s absence Gia is helping her father Joe Giudice manage her 3 younger sisters, Gabriella, Milania, and Audriana. “My sisters are doing OK,” says a proud Gia. “Obviously they miss her dearly, but we’re OK. My dad has been amazing – he’s honestly the rock. He’s been helping us so much.”

All in all, Gia is handling it with incredible strength and maturity (in my opinion). I cannot imagine what it would be like to go through this at 14, no less adding in that it’s taking place so publicly.

Gia has been channeling her energy into her music; working with her girl group 3KT on a follow-up music video called “Just 13.” Gia adds that Teresa is “very supportive” of her music aspirations.
