Poor Kim Richards. the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star is trying to get her life back on track, but she keeps straddling hurdles, especially when it comes to her beloved pit bull Kingsley. As you know, Kim gave Kingsley away after attacking a friend as well as her niece Alexia. Kim has been heartbroken over the chain of events, and now she’s facing a legal battle from Kay Rozario over the attack.
This makes me sad on so many levels. It was clear how much Kim and Kingsley loved one another. I have a dog (thankfully one who isn’t easily provoked), and I have been attacked by a friend’s dog (thankfully nothing that a few stitches couldn’t mend), and it’s hard on all sides. I certainly felt for my friend who felt terribly for her dog’s behavior. That said, the dog had a long history of “being protective” to the point of attacking. Also, I hope that people don’t automatically look to the breed for blame. Anyone who has ever had a pit for a pet (I haven’t but would in a heartbeat) know they are, as a whole, some of the sweetest, most loving animals. Okay, I’ll stop Sarah McLaughlin-ing y’all and get down from my soap box. Let’s get an update on that lawsuit, shall we?

According the NY Daily News, eighty-year-old Kay Rozario has filed a suit in Los Angeles federal court against Kim and Evolution Film & Tape, which is the RHOBH production company which hired a trainer for Kingsley a few seasons ago. After the accident, Kay told the site that the dog attacked her without any provocation, claiming, “Kim was lying on the bed talking, and all of a sudden out of nowhere, the dog starts biting me…I’m trying to pull back, but the dog has hold of me with its teeth. I fall backwards onto floor with blood spurting everywhere. There was blood all over the place.”
Kay recalled, “It was terrifying, just terrifying,” adding, “Thank God I was leaning on the bed with both arms in front of me or the dog would have gotten my throat and face.” Kay received several stitches for her wounds. Likewise, Kyle Richards’ daughter had to have surgery on her hand resulting from Kingsley’s attack on her.
In light of this law suit, Kim is speaking out against Kay’s version of the story, calling it “vehemently not true.” Kim asserts, “(Rozario) walked into my bedroom the next morning reaching across Kingsley towards me and Kingsley went after her. She was fully aware that I had a dog before she came to town and saw him upon her arrival.”
Kim alleges that Kay has sold stories about her to tabloids in the past (not sure what that has to do with being terribly bitten by a dog), stating, “It’s unfortunate how people can go against decades of friendship when something like this happens.”
All in all, everyone loses in this situation. It’s just sad all around. Bah humbug. 🙂
