Apparently ABC can only afford one Bachelor-franchise proof of success wedding at a time folks! And the first couple to get engaged is the first couple that gets to walk down the fantasy-rose-strewn televised aisle.
Earlier this week we announced that Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici's wedding was going to be sending moving Bachelor lovestory montages into our television screens very soon. But there's another franchise star looking to get a made-for-TV wedding as well! Desiree Hartsock, otherwise known as the least popular Bachelorette ever, was angling to get her own nuptials to Chris Siegfried on the TeeVee when she was told, not so fast!
“Desiree wasn’t originally on board with the idea of having a TV wedding, but after she thought about it, she realized that this was the perfect opportunity to launch her dream career as a bridal designer,” an source reveals to Life & Style. Oh – yes why not use your wedding not only to celebrate the love of your life but for an ulterior motive to launch your career. Aaahhh…love in the land of the famewhores!

Unfortunately Desiree must play second fiddle to ratings megastar Sean! “What’s frustrating is that Sean and Catherine are also having one, so that means ABC will want to space them out.” Sean and Catherine will be getting hitched in January. Everyone loves a holiday happy ending, you know. Also that's when the Bachelor will air again.
Apparently poor Desiree, always a bridal designer but never the girl in the big white dress, wanted a summer wedding networks executives nixed it because summer is a deadzone for ratings. Guess that's the breaks for a wedding freebie!
“She’s very upset about not being able to get married in the summer like she’s always dreamed, but she’s willing to make the sacrifice because she would marry Chris tomorrow if she could,” the insider adds. So why… doesn't she? Oh, the whole TV aspiration thing! “She just wants to get married so bad, but still wants to be able to take advantage of having a TV wedding.”
Desiree is willing to make concessions, as her contract dictates of course, but her one demand is that she wants to design her own gown. “She thinks it will be a great way to get her enough press to make a name for herself in bridal fashion once everyone sees how great of a designer she is.”
Hey I bet ABC gets a cut of any profits a Bridal by Bachelorette Wedding Gown Line makes! Why didn't they think of that sooner?!
