Just kidding. This news is hardly a shocker. Still, despite the scripted feel to the show and the grumbling of some West Virginians, it sounds like MTV's BUCKWILD is destined to be a success.
Much to Melissa Whitman's dismay. The West Virginia resident, who lives across the street from where BUCKWILD was partially taped, had a lot to say to the Charleston Gazette about the production crew, foul-mouthed cast, and staged aspects of the show.
According to Melissa, the BUCKWILD crew was obnoxious, inconsiderate, and constantly jammed her street with their black SUVs. Also, they taped (with their bright flood lights) during all hours of the day and night and several of the scenes were staged and/or reshot. Melissa added, "All of this was coaxed, coerced, scripted, or whatever."
An example of how the scenes were reshot and tweaked: "The big moving-in scene was shot two weeks after the girls were already living there."

About the BUCKWILD cast, Melissa said their profane language was hard to deal with, adding, "It got so bad, I'd leave the house and have to put my hands over my 5 year old's ears." The police were called, of course, but nothing ever changed for the better. Melissa shared, "They came up a couple of times to tell them to quiet it down, but the second the cops were gone, they went right back to it."
In the end, Melissa said everything about BUCKWILD "bothered her" and made her long for the good ol' days when MTV used to play music videos. Don't we all? "I want to say that it all has to do with being young," Melissa concluded. "Someone tells you they can make you famous and give you some money, and you think sure, but if I'd behaved like those kids did when I was their age, my father would have hung me upside down until I came to my senses."
I don't doubt Melissa's claims. I think it's obvious that BUCKWILD is totally scripted and set up. I mean, Anna and friends just happen to be evicted from their house after living there for barely 2 minutes and Shain just happens to have access to all the makings of a dump truck pool party… please. The question is, do we care? As long as it's entertaining, do we really care if our reality TV is real, fake, enhanced, scripted, etc. anymore?
