Real Housewives of Salt Lake City fans were elated when the Season 5 trailer dropped. Not only can we expect some intense drama, but the clip also shows that Angie Katsanevas will return as a full-time housewife. The mother of one was a standout during Season 4 when she was just a ‘friend of,” so it made sense that Bravo wanted her back.
Angie’s big fat Greek life
Since day one, Angie has been educating fans about her Greek heritage. It was nice to see Angie take such pride in her culture in a city full of Mormons. Between inviting the group over for Orthodox Easter and sporting her Greek flag bikini, it was more than easy to fall in love with Angie. The business owner doesn’t just act Greek on the show. She lives her daily life as a Greek, including teaching her daughter one Greek word daily. The RHOSLC star also runs her business by the Greek pillar of hospitality. She once wrote, “Greeks are known for their hospitality. When you walk into my home or into my business, you’ll be greeted with a hug offered a coffee a drink, and something to eat. And if you turn any of them away, I’ll be offended.”
Angie recently returned to the motherland and took some amazing photos at the Acropolis. Utah’s Greek community has also honored Angie and her entire family via KSL. As fans have learned, Angie’s father immigrated to America in 1947 from Greece. Angie shared with viewers that her father wanted to live out the American dream. Louie Katsanevas was only 11 years old at the time. At the time, Angie shared, “I am proud of being a Greek girl. I’m very proud of how we were raised. I’m very proud of the strong culture we have behind us.” Angie’s pride makes us all want to be Greek for a day.
Angie Katsanevas is a star
Angie’s performance in the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Season 4 reunion wasn’t lost on me. As Monica Garcia tried to defend herself and her troll account, Reality Von Tease, Angie sat there taking notes. So when Monica stated that the FBI deputized her to watch over Jen Shah, Angie couldn’t help but ask, “They sent you instead of the police?!” Angie was the one who would rile up Monica the most, causing her to blow a gasket. The hairdresser would sit quietly and observe, but she wouldn’t hold back when she had something to say. Angie’s words often cut like a knife as she didn’t waste time getting to her point. This often meant that Monica never had time to mimic Angie.
I also died as I watched Angie “the Don” Katsanevas try to get on the pink flamingo pool float while wearing her Greekini. She was never afraid to poke fun at herself, mainly when rumors circulated that she had a connection to the Greek Mafia. The mother of one was also not afraid of jumping into the deep end when it came to confronting the ladies. Undoubtedly, by the end of the season, Angie was the breakout star.
Angie Katsanevas is genuine
If there is one thing you don’t see a lot of in a Real Housewives star, it is humility and empathy. But Angie has both qualities in spades. The newest housewife came across as smart and emotionally intelligent, which was a far cry from Monica and Mary Cosby. Angie strikes me as the type of woman who would give you the coat of her back. She comes across as a girl’s girl, which is all you want in a friend. The Greek goddess was far from self-serving and seemed to be kind to her cast mates. Above all, she held herself together throughout and waited until it was appropriate to call someone out for overstepping her boundaries. Angie does all this with the precision of a Samurai sword slaying its enemies. I thought she was level-headed, kind, and honest.
