Teresa Giudice Explains the Exact Moment She Realized She Wanted to Divorce Ex-Husband Joe

Real Housewives of New Jersey viewers witnessed both Teresa Giudice and her husband, Joe Giudice, serve time for fraud. After Joe was released from prison, he was deported to Italy. Ultimately, his deportation and the duo’s financial woes were too much for the couple to overcome.

After 20 years of marriage, Teresa filed for divorce and their divorce was finalized in 2020. Then Teresa started dating Luis Ruelas, and the pair married in 2022. But what was the final straw in her marriage to Joe?

The reason why Teresa Giudice decided to divorce Joe Giudice

Teresa revealed the exact moment that led to her decision during her Turning The Tables by Teresa Giudice podcast. “When my mom passed away. I was just like, I was so upset, you know? I was so devastated because I felt like I lost time with my mom, which I did,” Teresa stated.

Antonia Gorga, Teresa’s mother, passed away on March 4, 2017. She was just 66 years old. Since Teresa was in prison from January 2015 until December 2015, she felt like she had “lost time” with her beloved mom. “I think your life is already planned out,” Teresa explained, “so what’s gonna happen is gonna happen, so this is the way my life was supposed to go.” I feel for Teresa missing her mom and lamenting the time that they didn’t have together.

RHONJ viewers were privy to the marital issues between Joe and Teresa, like the rumors that he cheated. Remember that sketchy “work” phone call during the Napa cast trip? Now, Teresa and Joe are on great terms. Eventually, Joe relocated to the Bahamas to be closer to his four daughters with Teresa.

Plus Joe and Luis have met, and Luis even called Joe on the day that he married Teresa. I still think that is odd, but maybe that’s just me.

Real Housewives of New Jersey is streaming on Peacock.
