Why Lala Kent and Scheana Shay Filming for The Valley Is No Surprise

Vanderpump Rules Season 11 was pretty rotten. All the drama from Season 10 had played out in real-time, so nothing was left to make the storyline intriguing. It finally was the end of an era; the cast knew it, and the fans knew it. But some wily Bravo stars were more cunning than others. Scheana Shay and Lala Kent were all about trying to market themselves for The Valley Season 2. With Lala being pregnant and Scheana being a mom, they were shoo-ins. Even if fans liked the cast the way it was.

No news is good news in The Valley

I believe Lala and Scheana could see the smoke signals from miles away that Vanderpump Rules was crashing and burning. Both moms were production puppets, as they put the pedal to the metal during Season 11 to stay in the limelight. Scheana and Lala were filmed speaking against Ariana Madix, and it was at this point that I knew they wanted to jump ship to The Valley. Fan accounts have caught the pair filming with Jesse Lally for Season 2.

But fans also saw them grace the screen in Season 1 as friends of the cast. This time around, Brittany Cartwright hosted a shark-themed pool party and both were front and center. Lala was caught showing off her baby bump with the Good as Gold singer by her side. It’s not surprising to see them filming. I would imagine neither is ready to give up that Bravo paycheck. I’m just not sure if either has a story viewers are interested in. Everyone has an expiration date, so haven’t these two ladies figured it out?

Again, it’s not a great surprise that Scheana and Lala want to be considered for The Valley. Both recently bought homes near Valley Village, so the commute would be ideal. Both Vanderpump Rules stars also have ties to the current cast. These past few months have shown that Scheana and Lala are still very close with former co-stars Brittany and Kristen Doute. Not to mention, they have a nice bond with Janet Caperna and Michelle Lally.

It also just so happens that Lala and Kristen had quite a feud back in May. No one has seen the empath that Kristen claimed to be in Season 1, with Lala sharing on the Vanderpump Rules After Show that she wasn’t happy watching the alum laughing at comments about her being a mom. Lala noted, “I’m not going to lie. Like, even if we were cool right now, you’re the same person, but you’re also, like, in your 40s now so it kind of is worse. Like, there’s no evolution, and you’re also old now.” With drama like this, it would be hard for Bravo not to want to sign her up so they could film it all.

Jax Taylor is on hiatus

In July, Jax Taylor shocked all of us when he revealed that he was checking himself into an inpatient treatment facility. Even though he is leaving soon, he has missed some filming for The Valley. This could be another reason Bravo might want to add Scheana and Lala. Is Jax’s absence their golden ticket into the series? It is hard to argue the idea that the cast would need the girls to fill in while Jax is away. Season 2 is already gearing up to be pretty dramatic. So far, fans will be able to see Jesse and Michelle’s divorce play out. Brittany and Jax deal with their long-term separation. And we can’t forget how our Kentucky Muffin put Jax on blast for failing to donate the money from his Cameos to cancer research.

So, will I be surprised if Scheana and Lala get cast? No. But I will be disappointed. I hate to say I agree with Jax, but I don’t think fans need another crossover. Let The Valley stand on its own two feet. I am very much over Scheana’s crying and Lala’s mean personality. But only time will tell if Bravo thinks they are needed in a full-time capacity.

The Valley is streaming on Peacock.
