When Danielle Olivera shared the news earlier this week that she was leaving Summer House, she was showered with love from her castmates.
The Donne founder posted a carousel on Instagram announcing that she would not return to the Hamptons next summer. Several of her costars wished her well in the comments section.
Though some fans speculated that Danielle saw the writing on the wall and decided to bow out gracefully, she claimed to be “stepping away” voluntarily. “I need to protect and prioritize the things that matter most to me – my company, my people, and of course myself,” she said.
Fans react
While some fans were supportive, others made it clear they won’t miss her. Housemates Lindsay Hubbard, West Wilson, Gabby Prescod, Kyle Cooke, and Jesse Solomon sent love and well wishes. Other commenters were less affectionate.
One fan wrote, “You’re fun & nobody is perfect. It’s a lot & I’m sure sometimes not how you want to be portrayed. We all mess up. No one on that show is better than the other. Best of luck to you.”
Another commenter wrote, “Thanks for the laughs, the cringe moments, and for the angry times. You definitely brought the drama the show needed.”
But at times, Danielle could come off as a mean girl. In one episode, she made Gabby cry and then refused to apologize to her, saying it was “stupid.” Many commenters remembered the poor treatment of her friends.
“You were a hot mess the past couple seasons,” said one commenter. “I think it’s the true you coming out. It’s okay take some time a reflect on how you treat people, love. Get some healing done.”
Another wrote, “Please use the time for some reflection from the last two seasons of summer house and the last season of winter house.”
Another commenter added, “BEST. NEWS. EVER. ~ Please Take Lyndsay With You …. BYE!!”
Even though she’s leaving, Danielle still hopes to pop up as a guest now and then.
“However I’m involved this summer, you can bet I’ll be rooting for another incredible season from my Summer House fam,” the New Jersey native said. “My goodness, season 9 you guys!!!”
