We all know about the “divorce curse” for couples that appear on reality shows. And if they renew their vows on camera? Go directly to divorce court! Somewhat surprisingly, Real Housewives of New Jersey has a lower divorce stat than other housewives shows. Still, that doesn’t mean that every relationship in the franchise is in a good place.
Let’s take a look at the current RHONJ couples who have the strongest relationships.
Margaret Josephs and Joseph Benigno
Margaret Josephs joined the show during Season 8. Her husband, contractor Joe Benigno, may be slow with their home remodeling projects. But he is quick to proclaim his love for his wife.
The two met while they were married to other people. They left their partners and tied the knot. Fans are used to hearing their sex confessions and flirty banter.
Margaret shared a peek into what makes their marriage successful. “Joe is so romantic, actually, he’s much more romantic than I am. He’s like, ‘Marge, let’s go do a staycation,’” Margaret told Life & Style. “He wants to stay in a hotel and go to the theater and order room service the next morning and do things like that.”
And Joe wholeheartedly supports his wife on RHONJ. “It’s rare he disagrees with me. But usually we agree on everything. He’s very, very supportive,” Margaret stated. “He gets me.”
Margaret shared a very close relationship with her ex-husband, Jan Josephs. Sadly, Jan passed away unexpectedly in September 2022. Marge was heartbroken, but Joe has been giving her love and support as she grieves his loss.
Jackie Goldschneider and Evan Goldschneider
Jackie Goldschneider became a member of the New Jersey cast during Season 9. Not only was she a lawyer and a writer, but she shared two sets of twins with her husband, Evan Goldschneider. Evan supported Jackie as she navigated her eating disorder recovery.
During Season 11, “OG” Teresa Giudice claimed that Evan was being unfaithful. This sparked a feud with Teresa that ended recently. Somehow, in Season 14, Jackie and Teresa are friends. Yes. You read that correctly.
Still, enduring cheating rumors on TV couldn’t have been pleasant. But Jackie and Evan were rock solid in their marriage. “I think we always innately trusted each other. That was never a question for me. I never said, ‘Well, did he do this?’” Jackie told US Weekly. “We had to learn to let go of a lot of blaming ourselves. We just realized how strong we are, and that it would take a lot more than this — even in front of the whole world — to pull us apart,” she added. Amen!
Melissa Gorga and Joe Gorga
Melissa Gorga signed on for Season 3 of RHONJ, bringing along her husband, Joe Gorga, and their three children. It was nearly the end of the world for Teresa, who was furious that her brother and his wife dared to infringe on her territory. The resulting feud carried on for what seemed like millions of years.
The Gorga’s marriage stood up to false rumors that Melissa was a stripper. During Season 13, Teresa and her husband, Luis Ruelas, told Joe that Melissa was cheating. That rumor was also false and resulted in the Gorgas skipping Luis and Teresa’s nuptials.
But in Melissa’s feud with Teresa, Joe always had Melissa’s back. During the Season 13 reunion, Teresa cut ties with Joe and Melissa. Afterward, Melissa supported her husband during that heartbreaking situation.
While it seems like the couple’s marriage has been solid, there have been a few bumps since they tied the knot in 2004. “Joe and I have a beautiful thing because we both always wanted the same things in life: a successful, healthy family, and [we make] sure everyone around us is happy,” Melissa told US Weekly. “Our kids are our life, and they are the reason we work so hard, try so hard, and fight so hard for our marriage.”
When Melissa opened her boutique, Envy by Melissa Gorga, Joe had to adjust to her working outside of their home. It took a while for him to support her business aspirations. But the duo worked it out. And they have always advocated for keeping their marriage spicy. That is why this duo is couple goals.
Jennifer Aydin and Dr. Bill Aydin
During Season 9, newbie housewife Jennifer Aydin and her husband, Dr. Bill Aydin, were introduced. The couple, who share five children, were honest about showing Bill’s busy plastic surgery practice and Jennifer holding down the fort at home.
But RHONJ viewers received a shock during the Season 12 premiere when Margaret told Jennifer that she knew that Bill had an affair. My jaw was on the floor when Jennifer confirmed it.
Bill’s affair took place about 12 years ago, just weeks before Jennifer gave birth to their son, Christian Aydin. “He feels sorry for me that I’m going through this publicly,” Jennifer told Distractify. “That remorse has come back into play, where he’s trying super hard to be affectionate, to show me how much he cares … “
Still, it was difficult for Bill and Jennifer to tell their children. Unfortunately, their daughter, Olivia Aydin, learned about the infidelity on TikTok. Season 13 saw Jennifer struggling and feeling like she wasn’t seen in their marriage. Bill and Jennifer began couples counseling and are still rocking their wedding bands today.
Rachel and John Fuda
Rachel Fuda became a New Jersey housewife during Season 13. Her marriage to her husband, John Fuda, always seemed supportive and loving. The duo wed in 2017.
They shared how they keep their marriage in good health. “John and I always make sure to show affection to each other. It’s also important to understand the way your partner receives love,” Rachel stated. She also recommended putting sex high up on your list of priorities. Finally, she suggested that couples “pick your battles.”
John and Rachel share two young daughters together. And in 2022, Rachel adopted John’s son, Jaiden, from a previous relationship. This dynamic twosome is one of the RHONJ couples who have the strongest relationships.
