Jax Taylor’s Bar Investigated by Health Department After ‘Changing Diapers on Bar’ and Numerous Complaints

Even fans of Jax Taylor know that the bar is set pretty low. But now his actual bar, Jax’s Studio City, has been under fire by customer complaints since its October 2023 opening.

Further, one such complaint spurred an investigation by the Department of Public Health. Jax and his estranged wife Brittany Cartwright share a young son, who often accompanies them to the restaurant and bar.

After an incident with their child was caught on camera and went viral, the DPH stepped in to make sure things were up to code. The U.S. Sun has the details.

Adulting gone wrong

The video in question was innocently (or was it??) shared by The Valley costar Jasmine Goode on social media. In it, Jax was seen “changing baby diapers on top of a bar where food and drinks are served.” according to the complaint documents.

The investigation of the establishment by the DPH was then conducted in April. Upon completion, the inspector wrote, “The complaint was not observed. No one in the facility was changing diapers in the bar at the time of the inspection.” Additionally, “Discussed with owner that employees and customers are not allowed to change baby diapers in the bar counter or on tables.”

The write-up concluded, “It is the owner’s responsibility to enforce this. Owner demonstrated understanding.” The complaint has since been closed and no further action was taken.

Fan backlash

The video itself garnered a lot of online buzz, with fans aghast at the lack of hygiene in a restaurant and bar.

One viewer wrote, “I need someone to tell me these two ‘parents’ are not changing a 3-year-old’s dirty diaper on the surface of a bar, in a restaurant that serves food, in full view of the public/paying customers. It cannot be.”

On the same day of the inspection for the diapering complaint, the inspector also noted critical violations about shellfish storage. Basically, Jax’s place had 90 days to get up to code and by May 1, a re-inspection took place. Also, the inspector noted that the violations had been corrected.

Consequently, the ultimate result from the May inspection was a grade “A” for the establishment, which is the highest grade a restaurant can receive.

The Valley continues Tuesdays at 9/8c on Bravo.
