Why Summer House Season 8 Is the Franchise’s Best Season Yet

Season 8 of Summer House is making waves. Earlier this month, the Bravo fan account Queens of Bravo revealed that the current season is the most watched season in the show’s history.

It’s hard to deny the magic of Season 8. Between Lindsay Hubbard and Carl Radke’s breakup and the magnetism of the new cast members West Wilson and Jesse Solomon, the series is more compelling than ever.

Here are all the reasons Season 8 is the show’s best season yet:

The house is less divided

In Episode 13, Amanda Batula noted that this is the first summer all the girls are getting along. In the past, the women in the house felt divided into two camps. Amanda, Paige DeSorbo, and Ciara Miller were on one side and Lindsay, Danielle Olivera, and Gabby Prescod were on the other. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case in Season 8. The friend group feels more blended, which is a joy to watch. I never thought I would see the day Lindsay confided in Paige and Ciara for relationship advice, but here we are.

The newbies are iconic

Someone give West and Jesse an award! The last few additions to the Summer House gang have been flops but West and Jesse are setting a new precedent. The two seamlessly integrated themselves into the friend group. Their presence in the group seems natural rather than forced. Not only are they well-connected with the more seasoned Summer House stars, they also have a strong friendship. I’ve loved watching their bromance this season.

The drama is top-notch

The drama on Season 8 is like nothing we’ve ever seen before on the show. First of all, the tension between Lindsay and Carl has me on the edge of my seat week after week. One week, I’m team Carl, and then the next episode rolls around and I find myself more on Lindsay’s side. We have no doubt their complicated relationship has inspired hour-long discussions between friends about who is right and who is wrong.

While their drama may be the most compelling, it isn’t the only source of conflict on the show. Amanda and Kyle Cooke have been getting into some heated arguments this summer and Bravo fans can’t stop talking about it. In Episode 12, the two had a huge fight after Amanda expressed a desire to pursue a career outside of Loverboy. Kyle dismissed the conversation, which upset a lot of fans who felt he was not being supportive of his wife’s aspirations.

There is a love story

Summer House is always more fun to watch when there is a cute couple to root for. This summer, that couple is Ciara and West. While the two haven’t made it official quite yet, their flirtmance has had fans gushing all season long. West brings out Ciara’s goofy side and fans love seeing her happy after the Austen Kroll drama in Season 6.

In Episode 13, we saw that the two might not be on the same page with their dating goals but I am still rooting for them.

Everyone showed up to work

In past seasons, Ciara, Paige, and Amanda have received backlash for coasting through the show. Fans criticized them for spending too much time in bed and not enough time stirring up drama. However, that critique was put to bed this season. All the cast members have brought it this season. It feels like each housemate has their own drama going on that they’ve being open about sharing. The storylines are plentiful this season, from Paige navigating the next step in her relationship with Craig Conover to Amanda’s search for an identity outside of her relationship. I love to see it.

There are a lot of singles in the house

Don’t get me wrong, I love watching the relationship drama but sometimes, I just want to watch singles live it up. It’s like Kyle said, “Summer should be fun.” There are a lot of single people in the house this summer, which has been fun to watch. Danielle, Jesse, Gabby, Ciara, and West all came into the house unattached this season. Thank God.

Summer House airs on Thursdays at 9 p.m. EST on Bravo.
