Bethenny Frankel Says She Has PTSD After ‘Torture’ of Divorce From Jason Hoppy

Fans spent years watching Bethenny Frankel share her life on reality TV. And one of the biggest defining moments was when she married Jason Hoppy. After a stellar run on Real Housewives of New York, Bethenny landed a spin-off, Bethenny Ever After, to document the wedding.

For those of you who watched, you might have noticed some red flags along the way. Sure enough, within two years, the couple called it quits. Thus entering Bethenny into one of the longest divorce battles in pop culture.

On a recent episode of her podcast Just B, Bethenny detailed how the ten-year-long ordeal impacted her.

“It was suffocating”

“I’ve been burned. I have massive trust issues, and I have post-traumatic stress disorder. It was literally the most traumatizing thing I will hopefully ever go through in my life,” the Skinnygirl mogul explained.

“I thought I would never survive it. I did not see a way out,” she went on. “It was suffocating. I thought I was gonna be miserable for the rest of my life.”

Bethenny added that going through the decade-long ordeal was “mental and emotional torture” and felt like a “powerless, tortured” individual.

“I have had every single f–king thing except for physical abuse done to me, and I am an expert on this topic,” the reality star asserted.

Bethenny is making more podcast episodes on the topic

The former couple also share a 13-year-old daughter, which added custody to the long list of court battles. Bethenny also accused her ex of “fraud,” “forgery,” “being followed” and “allegedly being hacked.”

“I have been through a f–king war –– a war. I have questioned myself as a human, as a parent, because I was told so many times otherwise how terrible I was and disgusting and old and irrelevant and so abused because I had no power to get out of it,” she said.

Despite the divorce finalizing in 2021, Bethenny noted that she is finally ready to talk about “something that has been impossible to talk about” for years. “How a person who is so smart and so successful could make such poor judgment calls and decisions or just not know or just have a bad hand, but it’s been a journey, so I’m ready to discuss it,” she shared.

Bethenny then revealed that she will be focusing specifically on her divorce for ten episodes of her podcast, one for each year of the divorce proceedings.
