Amanda Batula Thinks Kyle Cooke’s Wedding Role Is a ‘F-ck You’ From Lindsay Hubbard

In this week’s episode of Summer House, Carl Radke asked his buddy Kyle Cooke to be in his and Lindsay Hubbard’s wedding.

Kyle expected to be at least a groomsman since Carl had been a co-best man and officiant at his and Amanda Batula’s wedding in 2021. But no. When Carl asked Kyle to be a “flower boy” with a straight face, I was sure he was just pranking his friend. But he was actually serious.

Amanda had something to say about the situation on the Summer House After Show.

Amanda tried to make the best of Kyle’s odd role in the wedding, though she felt very differently inside. “I tried to just be supportive of it,” Amanda said. “The last thing I wanted to do was make Kyle feel worse about it.”

“He would do amazing, [though],” she joked with Danielle. “I would give him, like, little pigtails with his mullet … [He] would be the best flower boy ever.”

“[But] a part of me feels like it was a ‘f*ck you’ from Lindsay,” she said. “[Be]cause, you know, sometimes they don’t get along.” That’s putting it mildly.

No, Kyle and Lindsay didn’t get along so well at times, but I think it was because Kyle saw his friend being berated by his fiancée. Lindsay was totally pulling all the strings leading up to their ill-fated nuptials. Poor Carl seemed afraid to even open his mouth out of fear of starting another fight he couldn’t win.

“I know Kyle would have loved, more than anything, to be a bigger part [of] the wedding,” Amanda added. “But Lindsay severed a lot of [Carl]’s friendships and cut a lot of people out of his life, and they were just no longer as close as they used to be.”

Though several of their housemates questioned Kyle’s strange role in the wedding, Lindsay explained why they were using adult flower boys.

“It was an adults-only resort, no children allowed,” she said. As children weren’t allowed in the resort, “We [couldn’t] have flower girls or boys.” Then have no flower girls/boys. Why put a grown man through that humiliation?

“So I was like, why don’t we have flower boys, and you can make Kyle a flower boy?” she continued. In addition to Kyle, Andrea Denver and Luke Gulbranson were also enlisted to scatter petals down the aisle.

It was a ridiculous idea, and of course, Lindsay knew it was ridiculous. How insulting to ask someone who had been such a close friend–for whom Carl had been a co-best man as well as an officiant in his own wedding–to fill such a minor role in their wedding. It was totally a f*ck you, and I can’t believe Carl was able to keep a straight face when he told Kyle. I thought for sure he was playing a joke.

“That’s insane,” Paige said at the time. “I wouldn’t even go. I would have slapped Carl in his face if he’d said that to me. I’d be, like, have fun at your wedding. See ya!”

Summer House continues Thursdays at 9/8c on Bravo.

TELL US – DO YOU THINK CARL REALIZED HE WAS INSULTING HIS FRIEND? OR DO YOU THINK HE WAS JUST TOO AFRAID OF LINDSAY TO STAND UP FOR KYLE?
