The All-New Twist Coming To Top Chef Season 21

Oh, you wanted a twist? Well, Top Chef Season 21 is giving it to you! Not only is this season giving us a hint of freshness with new host Kristen Kish, but they also just announced that there’s going to be an all-new twist that’s going to shake up the season.

For the first time in Top Chef history, they’re letting a new competitor enter the Last Chance Kitchen. They’ll have the chance to compete to join the main competition. Let’s break down how this is going to work.

Last Chance Kitchen’s new addition

In this season of Top Chef: Last Chance Kitchen, Chef Soo Ahn will have the chance to join the main competition as the 16th contestant. Just like in past seasons, Tom Colicchio will give Season 21’s eliminated chefs a shot to rejoin the competition. Only this time, they’ll also have to face off against Chef Soo.

In the past, Last Chance Kitchen contestants have gone on to take the whole thing. That’s how Kristen won Season 10, so it’s fitting to introduce this twist during her first season as host. Based on Chef Soo’s track record, it seems like he’s going to be able to put up a pretty good fight too.

According to People, he’s a professional golfer turned chef. When he made the shift to the culinary world, he worked his way up into Michelin-star kitchens. He currently works as the executive chef at an Italian restaurant in Chicago called Adalina. Those eliminated chefs from Season 21 aren’t going to know what hit them.

New episodes of Top Chef air on Wednesday nights at 9/8c on Bravo. Then, you can watch Top Chef: Last Chance Kitchen the next day on Peacock at the end of each Top Chef episode.
