The fashionista big foot herself, Mia Thornton, joined the Real Housewives of Potomac for Season 6 and since then has been quite polarizing. The mother of three waltzed onto the scene as a breath of fresh air after Bravo said goodbye to Monique Samuels. Mia was a Real Housewives superfan who had trouble making friends in the group. Viewers were hooked on Mia once they learned she had met her husband while working at a strip club where he would drop $10,000 a night on her.
But even more interesting was her relationship with her best friend, Jacqueline Blake. The two women had known one another since their school days, and Mia even hinted that she had invited her BFF into her bedroom. During Season 7, the two were caught sharing a shower on a girl’s trip, but the kiki moment turned sour after the duo had a major falling out.
Mia’s High Hopes
Mia undoubtedly had high hopes when it came to bringing Jacqueline onto the series, but the cookie doesn’t always crumble the way a housewife would like. From the start of Season 7, it was obvious that Jacqueline was there to be a major support for Mia as she shared that she was going through a cancer scare. The mother of three introduced Jacqueline as her longtime friend, noting they had met in high school and have been “inseparable” ever since.
During their 20s and 30s, they remained close and built upon their 30-year friendship. The Joint Chiropractic owner often joked about Jacqueline and Gordon’s relationship, claiming she was like the couple’s sister-wife. But only mentally, not physically. But as the season progressed, Jacqueline started to feel as if she was Mia’s punching bag, and it all came to a head during the cast trip to Mexico.
The Trip From Hell
No amount of Piña Coladas could help these two, especially after Mia received a phone call from Jacqueline’s sister. The accusations started flying as Mia accused Jacqueline’s children of eating all the food in her house while they stayed there. Honestly, is this not the P E T T I E S T fight you have ever heard of? However, the real issue seemed to be that Mia felt her friend should be more hands-on with her children. What transpired was a conversation with shady remarks about Mia’s own childhood.
The argument moved to dinner and now included the rest of the cast. Jacqueline lashed out, saying that Mia wasn’t getting enough “dick at home,” which then caused Mia to tell her frienemy to “close your legs to married men.” The comment was brutal, especially because the rest of the Potomac women already had theories about her sleeping with Gordon Thornton.
The Social Media Wars
Naturally, what ensued was a full-out assault on social media. Both unfollowed one another and began sending attacks back and forth. Mia first posted a video about Jacqueline’s domestic violence incident. The two met again at the Season 7 reunion, where both confirmed they were absolutely not mending their relationship. The reunion took a turn as Jacqueline threatened to air more of Mia’s skeletons, but Mia didn’t seem worried as Gordon took the stage to seemingly confirm a threesome had occurred.
The Crux of the Argument
Season 8 has gone deeper into their friendship with Mia, revealing that she was a victim at the hands of her former best friend’s then-boyfriend. Mia admitted to Bravo cameras that she has been extremely mean to her friend because of the childhood incident, sharing, “Because Jacqueline did leave me that night, and because of the sequence of events that happened after she left…I think over the years, I wanted to forgive her.”
During the most recent episode, both sat down at the crab boil to figure out their drama. While they are still not best friends, the mothers did have a positive chat that left them on solid ground. For now, it seems like their longtime feud has come to an end, but only time will tell.
