Captain Lee Rosbach’s New True Crime Show Is a Great Concept

The old man of the sea and Below Deck, fan-favorite Captain Lee Rosbach, might not be on our small screens anymore, but he is already thinking of making a major comeback. Viewers first met Captain Lee as the grumpy old man who began with a head-turning one-liner. Fans loved how he referred to other boats as “that prick” and didn’t take any guff from nobody. He was seen as a straight shooter who never lied and always did the right thing.

After a rough Season 10, Captain Lee was fired from his post and Bravo. With leg issues, it looked as if the network wanted to take the franchise in a fresh direction. The move stunned fans and the star himself. The captain still hosted the after-show but had lost his spot as the head seamen. The mariner was not asked back, which left viewers wondering what he would do next.

Even though Captain Lee will no longer be heading up Below Deck, it doesn’t mean you should count the Florida native out just yet. As far as retirement, the Bravo star is taking a different approach and keeping himself rather busy. Deadline shared an exclusive proving that you can’t count out the skipper just yet. Captain Lee has been recruited by Bravo’s sister channel, Oxygen, to help solve a murder on the sea in the new series, Deadly Waters. Insert horror music here!

The series is reportedly still in production. However, if the show makes it to air, fans are bound to hear Captain Lee’s one-liners ring out once more. I am hoping the 74-year-old becomes the new Robert Stack from Unsolved Mysteries. That man struck the fear of God in me after watching each episode as a kid. I feel the captain can also have the same presence on his new show.

The OG Below Deck captain is perfect for this Deadly Waters hosting gig. With his grainy voice and hard-hitting way of delivering facts, viewers will most likely be glued to the screen. Captain Lee was known to run a tight ship and made sure to treat everyone the same. This personality trait is great for looking at cold cases with a new pair of fresh eyes. Undoubtedly, he ran a tight ship, and I feel he worked methodically to solve murders, too.

Tragedy Strikes Close to Home

Captain Lee has had to deal with his own tragedy close to home, and while it wasn’t a murder, the Bravo personality knows how important it is for family members to have answers. In July 2019, Captain Lee found his son on his couch, still wearing his hat, when he checked in on him. After 20 years of addiction, his son Josh Rosbach had lost the battle. Since that day, Captain Lee and his wife have championed for stricter rules on opioids, not wanting other families to suffer as he had.

The same feeling of loss and grief can also be felt by the family members who have lost someone to murder. Hopefully, Captain Lee can bring his own experience of loss to the table and champion the victims who no longer have a voice.

There is also one extremely important thing that Captain Lee has, and that is his experience. After ten years on Below Deck and three decades of yachting experience, he is going to be able to explain exactly what is going on to viewers. The stud of the sea has many accolades under his belt and even has a military background.

While I highly doubt that Captain Lee’s opening line will be “The victim was deader than a swordfish in the desert,” the series is bound to lure in former Below Deck fans. Captain Lee has yet to confirm any details, but it will be interesting to see him back in action in a different capacity than we are used to seeing him. While he is no pirate, I sure wouldn’t want to be on the receiving end of his investigating techniques, and once you cross into international waters, the bad guys could be in big trouble.
