Erika Jayne has been doing her best at a comeback, despite the drama surrounding her estranged husband, Tom Girardi. A portion of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 13 revolved around Erika wanting to get back in the music game.
Bravo captured Erika’s return to the music stage not only on RHOBH but also in an upcoming docudrama titled Erika Jayne: Bet It All on Blonde. A good portion of the teased drama for the documentary revolved around Tom.
For those unaware, Tom has been fighting an uphill legal battle for months now over allegedly embezzled funds from his clients. While Erika wasn’t implicated in the lawsuit, Tom’s proceedings still took a toll on her. Take it from Erika herself.
Erika admits she turned to Tom for “everything”
In speaking with PEOPLE, Erika shared what it was like to reenter the music world with Tom no longer by her side. She explained, “On one hand, I felt empowered to be doing it on my own but it was frightening at the same time.”
Erika continued, “Tom was someone I turned to for guidance on everything. He was a very big part of my life. I would really go to him and he would sort of talk me into feeling better, or push me to look at things a different way. And when you don’t have that, you miss that.”
She further explained that even with morality and criminality aside, she depended on Tom. “Right or wrong, however anybody feels about it, this was still a relationship that I had for over two decades.” Given the length of the relationship, Erika said she couldn’t just “forget about” it.
“Now, I’m out there on the tightrope and there’s no net. There’s no husband, there’s nobody to go home to guide me. I’m out here navigating it by myself. And it’s easy to feel like, ‘Oh sh*t, I hope I don’t misstep.’”
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 13 reunion continues Wednesdays at 8/7c on Bravo, with Erika Jayne: Bet It All on Blonde premiering March 6 at 9/8c.
