Trigger warning: This article mentions suicide.
Welcome back. Let’s get right into The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 13 Reunion, Part 1 recap. Last week, Kyle and Mauricio were forced to deal with their separation in the season finale. Viewers have been frustrated by how little Kyle shared about the cause of their marital discord. Here’s everything that you need to know about RHOBH Season 13 Reunion, Part 1.
Was Kyle manipulating Dorit?
Host Andy Cohen visited Kyle in her trailer to share that Mauricio was joining the group for the reunion. Just kidding! “You f*cker, Andy!” Kyle exclaimed.
Meanwhile, Erika stopped by Dorit’s trailer. After not hearing from Kyle for months, she received a text from her the day before the reunion.
“And then, she sends me a text basically trying to silence me. It’s so manipulative,” Dorit said. “It’s so calculated.”
Erika read the extremely long text message. It read in part, “I don’t want to lose someone else in my life over a TV show.” Another section read, “They don’t even know we are going through a hard time, so I don’t see the need to bring it up there.” Erika sided with Dorit about Kyle being manipulative.
Dorit calls Kyle “a punisher”
Andy mentioned how Erika wanted Kyle to be “eviscerated” at the reunion. Kyle admitted that her feelings were hurt, but then added that she can always trust Erika and that she has been an incredible friend.
So, Dorit brought up how hurt she was when she read the headline that she had “exaggerated” her friendship with Kyle. And I just have to say that Dorit’s gown is distracting. According to Kyle, that remark was in response to everything that Dorit had said during the season. First, Kyle didn’t love Dorit asking about her marriage on camera. Plus, Dorit’s claim that Morgan Wade stole her spot focused media attention on Kyle’s friendship with Morgan.
Dorit hit back, saying that Kyle is “a punisher” and will ice Dorit out. Then she brought up the text message from Kyle. “It was not meant to be manipulative in any single way,” Kyle replied. Sure, Kyle. And how happy is Erika to be seated between these two?
Garcelle is tired of Dorit
Garcelle executive-produced the movie, Black Girl Missing. Andy congratulated her on her Astro Award and Garcelle’s NAACP nominations. Kudos to Garcelle! She shared that part of the reason that she took RHOBH was because she could be home more with her twin sons.
Dorit said she was hurt because Garcelle didn’t feel like she trusted the group with family info. But Garcelle was ready to pounce. She reminded Dorit that it hurt her feelings to watch her friends laughing at her teenage son being cursed at. Mic drop!
Buckle up, because Garcelle just brought up Dorit being “attacked” during the home invasion. Garcelle pointed out that Dorit knows what an actual attack is, and she shouldn’t have said that Garcelle “attacked” her.
Annemarie defends Dorit
So, Annemarie joined the conversation. She reminded Garcelle that when she asked Sutton about her esophagus, Sutton told her to stop yelling at her a couple of times. Then the newbie called out Garcelle for not speaking up when Sutton was “weaponizing” her and making her seem “aggressive.” It was Dorit who stood up for Annemarie, not Garcelle.
Finally, Dorit asked Garcelle if she liked her, and Garcelle replied, “Sometimes.” But there is obviously a problem between them. Dorit asked if the actress wanted to have a friendship, and Garcelle was uncertain. This repeated loop between the two of them is exhausting.
Annemarie reflects on her first season
Sadly, Annemarie’s mother recently passed away. Her mother was ill while Annemarie was filming RHOBH, but she decided to keep the situation separate from the show. In a serious moment, Andy offered his condolences.
Andy also pointed out that many viewers felt that Annemarie couldn’t do anything right. So, what was the hardest part of handling the negative comments? Annemarie, as an athlete, grew up with constant criticism. But she admitted that she internalized it.
Crystal knocks Annemarie for saying she was a doctor
Annemarie met Crystal before they started filming. Annemarie alleged that Crystal acted one way off-camera and another way when the cameras were up. Interesting.
Crystal said that when she first met Annemarie, she stated that she was an anesthesiologist, not an anesthetist. Andy thought that Crystal may have mixed up the two words. But Crystal’s sister is an anesthesiologist. After Annemarie allegedly said she was an anesthesiologist, she then clarified that she was a nurse anesthetist. Make it make sense! Please!
Sutton and her infamous esophagus
Crystal called out Annemarie for “weaponizing her profession” against Sutton. I mean, Sutton must have the most talked-about esophagus in the world.
Annemarie’s fascination with Sutton’s esophagus started because of the weird way the story unfolded. But after watching the show, Annemarie apologized to Sutton for her behavior. Sutton explained that Annemarie talking behind her back, and hinting that she had an eating disorder, hurt her feelings.
Crystal slams Dorit for her “child bride” comment
Crystal found her voice this season. But she may not have counted on the shady editors on RHOBH. After she denied telling Annemarie that the ladies were not “educated,” those crafty editors found a clip of Crystal calling her co-stars “not highly educated.” Oops!
Then we revisited Dorit calling Crystal “a child bride.” Crystal schooled Dorit, explaining as an Asian person, “child bride” essentially translates to “mail order bride.” Dorit apologized, saying that she had no idea what that remark meant. Welcome to Garcelle’s world.
As for Crystal calling Annemarie “a bitch” at the gala? Crystal was triggered because the issue involved an eating disorder. Then she asked Annemarie if she was going to apologize for lying. Annemarie claimed that Crystal hinted that Sutton had an eating disorder. But Annemarie clearly said it. And that would be a no on the apology.
A brand new Kyle
Kyle has a new attitude this season. She has a fitness regimen, loves getting tattoos, and is sober. She also suffered the loss of her best friend, Lorene Shea, who took her own life. Kyle was still struggling through the grieving process.
Andy mentioned that the distance with Dorit seemed to start at the Season 10 reunion. And it involves Kyle’s sister, Kathy Hilton. “There’s nothing I’ve ever wanted more than for you and Kathy to be okay, period,” Dorit said. “I have a relationship with Kathy, which was independent of my relationship with you.”
Kyle responded, “You didn’t know her that well. My point is we were closer, and the conversations that we were having led me to believe that you seemed to be very disappointed in her behavior.”
Dorit said that would happen when Kyle related stories about her past with Kathy. “No, it was the stuff that happened about Aspen,” Kyle said. Dorit asked what Kyle was referring to, but Kyle wasn’t delving into Aspen all over again.
During last year’s reunion, Dorit urged Kyle to take on some of the blame for what happened with Kathy. Kyle was furious. And she accused Dorit of always choosing to side with the audience, instead of her. A claim that Dorit labeled “the most hysterical thing I’ve ever heard.” But no one was laughing.
