Monica Garcia is clarifying claims she made at the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Season 4 reunion about the RHOSLC producers.
At the reunion, Monica said she told production about her involvement with the Reality Von Tease Instagram account “the first time [she] interviewed” for the show. But host and Bravo producer Andy Cohen denied she would have been hired had they known about her “burner account.”
On February 13, the mom of four spoke to Teddi Mellencamp and Tamra Judge on their Two Ts in a Pod podcast. She was adamant that she “told production when they came to [her] house when [she] was auditioning for [RHOSLC].”
Bravo executive producer denies Monica’s claim
“They asked me about it,” she continued. “They said, ‘Do you know who Von Tease is? Who runs that?’ And we had a discussion about it.” Unfortunately, the production staff who interviewed Monica for Season 3 were no longer there when she was hired for Season 4.
“Fast forward to now. I’m on season 4, it’s not even the same people,” she said. “I had four people in my home. Those four people weren’t even on the show at all in season 4. So production [is now,] like, ‘She never told us.’ That’s true. I never told them. I told the other people from season 3.”
Tamra agreed that Bravo production “changes people all the time.”
But Bravo executive producer Lisa Shannon strongly begged to differ. In a January 2024 Variety interview, she clarified, “We would never jeopardize the trust of the cast, nor would the network, nor would Andy … We just would never do that. Especially with the entire cast — you’re really blowing up your relationship with everybody.”
No apology, no contract
In the same Variety interview, Andy said he believes Monica could have stayed on the show had she only been willing to apologize to her co-stars at the reunion.
“What I love about reunions is it’s like the Housewives’ court of law,” he said. “I think if Monica had come out and was able to sway even one of the women back on her side, it might be a different conversation right now.”
It was pretty obvious on the show that he was hoping to find some forgiveness for the Brea Baby founder. Love her or hate her, Monica always brings the drama, which makes for interesting TV.
But Monica held firm and refused to apologize to her castmates. She didn’t feel they’d accept her mea culpa anyway.
“I am sorry that I ever involved myself in this account and that I got myself in this situation,” she admitted. “The reason why I did not apologize [at the reunion] is because I am not going to give a fake apology. At that moment, I did not have it in me to apologize, because the women were relentless. I felt like they still weren’t willing to hear me.”
Real Housewives of Salt Lake City is now streaming on Peacock.
