Who would have thought that Scandoval would have the unpredicted effect of bringing Scheana Shay and Katie Maloney closer? To their credit, the two Vanderpump Rules original cast members put their differences aside to rally behind Ariana Madix after she discovered that her boyfriend of nearly a decade, Tom Sandoval, was cheating on her with her best friend.
Season 10 wasn’t the best for the ladies. Katie took offense when Scheana pushed Tom Schwartz, her ex-husband, towards a quick romance with Rachel Leviss. It defined their friendship for the whole season.
Yet in Season 11, the atmosphere is totally different. And it’s only three episodes in. Katie and Scheana are warm to each other.
Both are “committed” to their relationship
During the February 13 episode of VPR, the the Bravolebrities discussed their friendship, and even shared a meal together. Katie got an IV drip with Ariana when she revealed how the contact has progressed.
“I feel like Scheana and I are at a real turning point,” Katie explained in her confessional. “We’re both really committed to working on our friendship. I finally feel like we’re able to communicate — the lights are on [and] someone’s finally home.”
For her part, Scheana told Bravo cameras that she and Katie “used to be so close” before Scheana’s bond with Schwartz threw a spanner into the works.
“I feel like we both, genuinely, want to make it work this time around, so spending more time one-on-one is first on the list,” the Good As Gold singer explained.
During dinner, Scheana acknowledged that she shouldn’t have invited Katie’s ex-husband to “Emo Nite.”
“I’m so happy with where you and I are at. I don’t want to have you ever be uncomfortable because of him being there,” Scheana said..
“It’s not about me. I’m thinking more for your own [sake],” Katie replied.
Will Scheana’s thawing friendship with Tom Sandoval change matters between the two ladies? Time will tell as the season progresses.
