Despite having divorced Tom Schwartz two years ago, Katie Maloney still offers up criticism, where it’s due, for her ex-husband’s behavior. Most of it has to do with Schwartz’s seemingly co-dependent friendship with Tom Sandoval.
Nothing was more apparent that the dynamic between the Toms remains the same than their recent appearance on Nick Viall’s podcast, The Viall Files. One would think that what Schwartz suffered by proxy of Sandoval’s affair with Rachel Leviss would give him pause. That perhaps it was time to reconsider the friendship. But it seems that, despite having taken a break from Sandoval, the Vanderpump Rules duo are back in fine form.
And Schwartz’s ex-wife, Katie, said just much during a recent episode of her podcast Disrespectfully. She gave comments on the Toms’ interaction during The Viall Files podcast. And the Something About Her co-owner isn’t holding back.
Katie finds Schwartz and Sandoval’s dynamic “remarkable”
“What a sh*t show,” Katie reacted to her co-host Dayna Kathan on the Wednesday, February 7 episode of Disrespectfully.
“I mean the first part of it — just Schwartz sitting there apologizing for [Sandoval] for being late or possibly not showing — it was just kind of like, this is what he signed up for,” Katie said of Schwartz’s dynamic with Sandoval.
“This is what he’s hitched his wagon to, is just being a Tom Sandoval apologist. And, you know, to me it’s just really kind of sad. … And then [Sandoval] shows up finally, and throughout the whole thing, [Schwartz is] just kind of making excuses for [Sandoval].”
Sandoval’s tardiness went unapologized for, and the VPR star’s response was to point out that Nick himself had been late for his podcast, Everybody Loves Tom. The duration of which remains a point of contention, though Nick has receipts to back up his claim of only being 10 minutes late.
“Whenever someone’s bringing the hammer down on him, he’s like, ‘OK, well, what about back in 2012?’ It’s like, how about in the now? How about we’re talking about today, what you did today?” Katie said of Sandoval’s deflection. “We’re not talking about what somebody did 10, 12 years ago. No one’s saying anyone’s perfect, we’re just trying to get to the bottom of why you’re late, dude.”
She pointed out that, “Mr. Accountability,” rarely the necessary action himself.
“He would always scream in people’s face[s] — like, my face, anyone else’s face — about not taking accountability, when I’ve never seen that man be accountable for anything ever,” Katie continued.
Katie then referenced her ex-husband’s continuous correcting of Sandoval when he seemingly blamed Ariana Madix for his poor choices.
“When one’s burying themselves, the other one’s trying to dig [them] out,” she said. “It’s kind of remarkable how it just keeps happening over and over again. … I don’t know why I’m constantly surprised because it’s like, did I expect any different? No.”
