Dancing with the Stars alums Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd are sharing a happy surprise. There’s a new baby on the way!
The couple, married in 2017, already share two sons together: Shai, seven, and Rio, seven months. They announced their new arrival in a humorous video on Instagram, in which Peta initially says she’s not feeling well. As she prepares two bottles of baby formula while snacking on a giant pickle, she tells Maks over Facetime that she “did a test, and … it’s not COVID.” She even adds that they’re going to “need an extra bedroom.”
Maks, a little slow on the pickup, finally caught on when his wife waved a pregnancy test in his face. Suddenly, the lightbulb went on, and he exclaimed, “Babe, stop! No way! You’re pregnant?” Maks finally admitted he was “tearing up” with happiness at the news.
A very unexpected surprise for Peta and Maksim
The caption on Maks and Peta’s video reads, “We Are Having A Baby! Yes, we know … we just had a baby … haha! This was very unexpected at (4 months postpartum with Rio) but we are sooooo happy and so ready to be a family of 5 soon!”
After suffering three miscarriages and going through IVF to conceive Rio, the couple are even more grateful for this surprise pregnancy. “After everything we’ve been through,” Peta shared, “we’re beyond blessed and know we are uber lucky for this miracle to happen to us.”
The professional dancer enlisted two friends to help her make the video. She shared that it took her an hour “to get the courage to call [her husband] and when he wasn’t catching on, we all couldn’t stop laughing in the kitchen. I had the ‘I’m so sick story,’ the pickle, and 2 bottles [of formula]. HAHA! Oh, Maks!”
