Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola finally made her grand return to Jersey Shore, and after over a decade, she filmed with her ex-boyfriend Ronnie Ortiz.
The two fought incessantly during the original run of Jersey on MTV from 2009 to 2012. Once the series concluded, Sam left all things reality TV in the dust, but after the rebooted series made its way on the air, she decided to return in 2023.
The new season, premiering February 8 will also feature Ronnie’s return as a full-time cast member after departing the series due to personal issues seasons before. Plus, a Ronnie and Sammi reunion!

“Like, it’s not ideal. I wasn’t looking forward to it, but I did know that if I were to come back on this show again, that this could be a possibility,” Sammi told TooFab. “I mean, it’s a given. And I was like, listen, this person doesn’t affect my life anymore. So it’s kind of like just working with a co-worker.”
Since leaving after displaying unhinged behavior, Ron’s been trying to make things right with his co-stars. The new season will likely feature Ron on another leg of his apology tour, and if you’re wondering whether the GTL bro extended one to his ex-lover, Sammi said, “Hell no!”
“Things were said back when we broke up. There’s nothing that needs to be said at all from his end to me, from my end to him. Like, I’m good. I don’t need closure. I’m good, we’re good.”
The guidette shared more about their dynamic, explaining that she has “respect” for Ron since he’s an OG cast member of the show. “This is also his family, too,” she said. But in the end, she drove the message home, reiterating that Ron is “just a coworker” to her.
