Up until the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City reunion last night, one of the greatest mysteries of Real Housewives history remained unsolved. Of course, I am talking about how Heather Gay got a black eye.
It’s hard to believe that before Monica Garcia, RHOSLC was dramatic enough. Last season, the biggest “gasp” moment was when Heather emerged from her room on a cast trip with a big ole shiner. She stayed mum about it, even when pressed during last season’s reunion.
While pretty much everyone suspected castmate and current jailbird Jen Shah, Heather refused to name her. Until last night.
Heather knew the black eye culprit the whole time
“Honestly, it was a lot of drinking, and the next morning, I woke up with a black eye. I knew I’d gotten it from Jen. I didn’t know how, but I knew I’d gotten it from Jen,” Heather told Andy Cohen.
The best-selling author continued, “She was the first person I texted. She came into the room, she said, ‘Did I give that to you?’ I said, ‘Don’t worry. I’ll cover.'” When Heather said “ride or die,” she meant ride or die.
While producers rolled footage from that night, Heather alleged that Jen told her, “I can’t believe I did that to you.”
So why didn’t Heather come clean earlier? According to her, she was “too scared.”

Andy pointed out what we were all thinking – why did Heather cover this up with so many excuses when she had so many chances to tell the truth? Especially given that following last season, she was on tour promoting her book, Bad Mormon.
An emotional Heather told Andy, “I’m sorry to you. I’m sorry to you guys. I’m sorry to the network [and] I’m sorry to the audience. I didn’t know how to navigate it myself.”
As for Jen, she has previously denied being the culprit of Heather’s injury. In an Instagram Story earlier this month, Jen wrote, “BRAVO, if i punched Heather in her eye, you guys would have footage to prove it. It’s clear the show can’t live without me since I was brought up at the beginning, middle, and end of season 4.”
Jen is currently serving six and a half years in prison after pleading guilty to her role in a telemarking scheme that scammed millions out of unsuspecting victims.
